Ganesh Ayyar new Hewlett Packard India president

Our Infrastructure Bureau
Mumbai, Jan 15: Ganesh Ayyar is the new president of Hewlett Packard India. He succeeds Suresh Rajpal, who retired today after a career spanning more than 29 years at HP.

Ayyar, who joined HP in 1989 and was a general manager of HP Singapore prior to this move, has held several management roles in the company. He has been working closely with HP customers in India and Singapore for sometime now.

Suresh Rajpal decided to leave HP last year to start a company of his own. He took over reins at HP when it was a fledgling subsidiary and left the company in sound financial health.

Today, HP has sales and support centres in six metros and a manufacturing facility in Bangalore. It had a turnover of Rs 656 crore in 1997-98.

HP has established a software operation subsidiary in 1989 for export-oriented development and taken over Verifone Inc, a leading provider of secure electronic payment solutions for financial sector.
