Pune, Aug 20: Dynamic Container Freight Station (CFS) has received `in principle clearance' from the ministry of commerce to set up an air cargo complex at its private inland container depot at Dighi in Pune.
At present Dynamic's freight station is only for sea cargo and is connected by road to Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). A rail link by CONCOR via the ICD is also in the offing. The Sahar airport will be the gateway for this air cargo complex. The modalities are being worked out and movement of air cargo from Pune will begin soon. This complex is expected to meet the demand of the high value low volume electronics and IT industry in the region. Dynamic CFS will also be expanding its client base with the possibility of getting approval for dealing with imports and exports under the DEEC (duty exemption entitlement certificate) and DEPB (duty exemption pass book) schemes. So far those coming under these schemes were unable to use the ICD and decisions were being made on a case-to-casebasis. The customs commissioner of Pune has suggested granting of this facility to the ICD and an approval is expected soon. Majority of trade from this region is carried out under these schemes and this move is expected to increase traffic through the ICD.
Dynamic is also expanding its base across the country. A sister concern of Dynamic Logistics, Pioneer Logistics will be setting up a container freight station at Bidadi, 40 kms from Bangalore. The project will be jointly set up by the Karnataka state government and is estimated to cost around Rs 10.50 crore.
