GANDHINAGAR, Jan 5: The two-and-a-half-month old Gujarat ministry led by Chief Minister Dilip Parikh today submitted its resignation to the State Governor Krishnapal Singh, paving the way for imposition of President's rule in the State going to poll for both the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha on February 28.
The Governor has asked Parikh to continue in office till further instructions. Earlier, Parikh told reporters that the cabinet meeting had unanimously decided to resign on ``moral grounds''. After a 45-minute discussion, it also decided that he should submit the resignation to the Governor, Parikh added.
``We were waiting for the Election Commission's notification on holding of elections to the State assembly along with that to the Lok Sabha. Therefore, now we have decided to resign,'' Parikh said.
