PMC officials said the death was due to delay in initiating treatment.
At present, there are 14 patients admitted to various wards in the hospitals and one is on ventilator support.
Out of 1.5 lakh persons who have been screened for the virus since April this year, 28,473 have been administered Tamiflu and 422 patients was admitted to various hospitals have been treated and discharged, PMC health officials said.
They pointed out that of the 26 deaths, the majority was from outside Pune. Heath officials from Pimpri Chinchwad have also reported 10 deaths since April this year.
According to the state surveillance officer, Dr Pradeep Awate, the majority of the patients is in the age group of 22-49.
The state has seen 104 deaths since April this year and 1,199 cases being reported this year.
Awate appealed that medicines are in place and that screening centres are conducting regular check ups, for persons with symptoms of influenza-like illness to get treatment well in advance.
