5 students held for robberies

Kolkata The police on Saturday arrested five school students in Barasat in connection with a spate of robberies in the area last year. The five were taken to the police station where they confessed to the crime.

Police said the main culprits were two brothers — Rippon and Littyon Thakur — who were school drop-outs. The brothers had apparently studied till classes IX and VII respectively and took to crime to make some quick bucks.

The two brothers, along with three other school students, allegedly carried out three robberies in December last year in the Madhyamgram area. The five were finally caught on Saturday morning by the police following a tip off will be produced in Barasat court on Sunday morning. q
