“Majority of respondents, who are working in companies located in Gurgaon, Noida, Delhi, Sonepat and Faridabad, said they have begun insisting on leaving offices on dot, immediately after duty hours following the atmosphere of insecurity,” it said.
After the brutal gangrape of a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus about a week ago, people in many parts of the country have been demanding quick justice for her and also to make stringent laws against rape cases.
“About 88 per cent of women respondents said the anxiety is more among the guardians of those women who travel by chartered buses,” the survey said.
These respondents said now they get more calls while at work from home -- parents or husbands -- after the incident, it added.
The chamber said it surveyed about 2,500 women and men in various cities.
The survey said those who use the Delhi Metro feel relatively secure as long as they are within the premises of the metro stations.
However, they said the moment they deboard the train, their anxiety levels increase as the basic infrastructure from the stations to the colonies is found lacking.
The survey said majority of respondents feel that the deployment of more police personnels would be there for a few days and after that everything will be back to usual, the survey said.
“It is not difficult to wire the major and vulnerable parts of the region with CCTVs, which should be properly monitored and action taken,” Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat said.
The fear of law must be instilled among those who are prone to commit heinous crime, he added.
The chamber said accountability must be fixed not among the junior functionaries but also among the higher-ups. Those found guilty of incompetence and complacency should be simply sacked. “The fear of losing job would work.”
Besides, the survey said if the confidence of workforce is shaken, the NCR would lose its eminent position among even investors.
The respondents also wanted companies human resource departments to devise new ways of ensuring increased staff security, especially among those who work on night duties, it said.

all this haresmens aginst women are happening since most of the time the justice is not rendered. The court takes very linient view towards the accused and the victims are helpless and they left with the feeling of further haressed the legal system and justice department helps the accused in women haresment cases to escape sometimes even to go out of the country in order to escape trail. police alone can not be blamed unless judicial officers changes thir mind to give deterent punishment .The govt and people will forget this incident in few days.
I was once a proud Indian, but lack of change and progress has shattered that patriotism. No water, electricity, rising food prices, politicians so corrupt that they have destroyed the country and blame Pakistan for everything, and now unexpected incidents like this occur because there are no rules or laws addressing these everyday issues. Apart from the above, the government should give higher incentives for the girls child for food, education, job training and equal pay with men in all trades and occupations. The issue of women empowerment wil be effective only when the money is put where the mouth is, I.e. the biggest positive motivator for treating women with respect is the pocketbook.
everybody is worried only against the rape done bodily on the women. how many is bothering about there mental torture day in and day out perpetrated by the humans in our society. ex. chain snatching,pick pocketing, indulging in theft cheating money or otherwise scolding in the public etc. etc. if one asks for a death penalty for raping how about others. when we are going make a clean society . the law abiding and disciplined huomons etc. of course this includes our kings the so called politicians/bureaucrats and particularly our rulers and the inefficient opposition making mockery of the society/taxpayers
