Ajmal Kasab should have been hanged long time ago: Muslim groups

Nearly four years after the Mumbai terror attack, Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving Pakistani gunman, was hanged to death at the Yerawada central prison in Pune.

MUMBAI Muslim groups across Maharashtra welcomed the hanging of Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab and claimed that action against a person who kills innocent people should have been taken a long time back. "People who come from across the border and murder innocent civilians deserve no mercy. Keeping him alive for so loan after a guilty verdict was passed was in our view a murder of justice. We however welcome this belated measure that was taken by the government," Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind's Maharashtra unit Secretary Gulzar Azmi said.

Residents in the Muslim dominated areas of the city including Behrampada and Mohammed Ali Road were unanimous in their opinion that the perpetrator of the carnage that Mumbai witnessed deserved what he got.

"In Islam it is said that killing one innocent man is equivalent to killing of the entire humanity. In this case this guy killed countless helpless individuals. He deserved to be hanged," Shaikh Dabir a retired teacher said.

Meanwhile many Islamic scholars also said that Kasab had not only violated the laws of the country but was guilty of violating the Islamic code of conduct as well.

"Islam says that any individual who spills the blood of an innocent should also receive the same fate. As a Muslim and as an elected representative I am happy that Kasab was punished under the laws of this nation as well as the laws of my religion," Independent MLA from Malegaon Mufti Mohammed Ismail said.

Thank God It can not be undone by vijay on 25 Nov 2012

This can not be undone, it has reached it's finality. If the community read the situation as it now says, it should have called for execution much earlier when Politicians were pandering to there whims. The result is other extreemists which were already sentenced are being freed by Royal Judiciary.

Can you name one muslim personality who has ever said that Kasab should not be hanged. For some there is always an opportunity to propagate negative views about the muslim community.

Sonia Gandhi is the modern day Tughlaq that shot people in cannons for no reason. Tughlaq was neither a scientist not a economist nor administrative genius. He did things overheard from somewhere upon someone's suggestion using disposition as king to torture his subjects. We have Sonia Gandhi today that is neither a economist not a techocrat not a bureaucrat nor a scientist who is using her situation in politics today to bring suicidal economics to the people, stifling science and innovation and totally unconnected administrative policies encouraging corruption and loot of the exchequer the spoils of which she will neither see not her kith enjoy. While bringing a load of misery and hardship to every Indian especially the seventy percent population that barely ekes out a living. An anti Christ with the blood of maore than a billion on her hands. And all that for what? Nothing.

Kasab by Nun on 24 Nov 2012

well said. Innocents cannot be killed by those from across the border, from within the border or from the confines of the parliament by making policies and economic decisions that make life impossible or difficult to live. The crime is too obvious to be unnoticed and accepted by anyone. What is religion? A civilized method of living that makes it safe for everyone. Religions got flak for some reason as they failed to keep up with times and forms of governance took their place namely democracy, communism, socialism etc. The purpose of all such systems with rules and laws created by men is for the benefit of men. Democracy is another religion to face the noose of the hangman just like the worldwidecondemnation of Islam if it fails to safeguard the majority represented by it for that purpose. A leader namely Sonia Gandhi cannot lead UPA stubbornly on the path of anti people trajectory after wresting a mandate promising to better their lives. It is like the Prophet Muhammad promising to protect his bande but cauising death across the world when a movie criticizing him is made. Similarly Sonia Gandhi won an election to reduce inflation, and help every I Dian that voted for her - she uses that mandate to takeaway their livelihood, food, fuel, jobs, land and their tax money giving them debt in lieu of her investments with crooks around the world who promised her some returns she might not see! For all the betrayal!
