Religious Adviser to the Premier Abdullah Md Zin said said in the early days, the word Allah already existed but it was wrongly used and was taken in the wrong context.
The Catholic Church had submitted an application for a judicial review over the use of the word Allah, seeking to quash the decision which imposed conditions on the publishing permit of ‘The Herald’, a Catholic weekly.
He added that people in that era claimed Allah had children, that angels were his daughters and Allah had associations with the many statues used for worshiping.
"That is why Allah directed Prophet Muhammad to clear the matter and declare that Allah is One, has no children, was not given birth to and cannot be associated and likened to other things, or objects, in this world.”
"That is why the word Allah cannot be used by non-Muslims to describe their God," the adviser was quoted as saying by the ‘Star’ newspaper on Thursday.
The Malaysian states of Johor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis and Selangor have gazetted the ruling which is now part of the respective state enactments on Islamic matters.
A 'fatwa' had been issued to prohibit non-Muslim publications from using the words ‘Allah’, ‘Kaabah’, ‘Solat’ and ‘Baitullah’ in their reading materials.
The remaining four states - Penang, Federal Territory, Sabah and Sarawak were in the process of gazetting the fatwa, the ‘Star’ newspaper reported.
Recently, a leader of the Opposition Islamic PAS party said non-Muslims were allowed to use the word ‘Allah’ as there was a verse in the Quran which quoted the non-Muslims of Mecca calling their god by that name.
The Malaysian Ulema did not stop to Arab Christians using the word Allah, if you read their scriptures in Arabic they mentioned they use frequently the word Allah. They also wish in the same like muslims.

I invite my Hindu brothers to ponder the pure monotheism of Hinduism ( very similar to Islam)and their present plight and at the same time compare the concept of God in Christianity which has given a great historical human personality( Jesus) godhead.
Whoever gave the right to any to issue "fatwa" on this subject. I am sure they must be ignorant and not true moslems. The root word for Allah is the word Ala, meaning the first or the foremost. I find no reason for any one to say that a particular word cannot be used by someone who does not follow a particular religion. In any religious faith, God Almighty is considered as the first and foremost. He is the "Alllah" and will remain so and nobody has a right to take it away from me eventhough I am a hindu. To me Allah denotes the Almighty and will always be so.
God in Arabic is Allah. God in Hindi is Bhagwan. God in Persian is Khuda. God in English is God. The God is the same but we people know him/she/it in different forms manifested in different cultures and languages. What is the fuzz ?
The way things are going in the world, no one would like to utter the word "Allah". Soon muslims will start disassociating from their own religion.
I am also confused on this information, I do not think that this decree is according to the rites of Islam, if we see the history of Islam the christian and Jewish lands, which were conquered by the four righteous and pious caliphs did not put any such embargoes on non-Muslims, which the Malaysian governments imposes on non-Muslims. Even the messenger of God after having the treaty with the Christians of Najran did not put any such embargo and that time the term Allah was widely used by the non-Muslims. I would suggest Malaysian government to review their decision, but we definitely also do not know in what circumstances they were forced to impose this restriction, on the other hand Malaysia is governed by the liberal Muslims and itself is a liberal Muslim country, a lot of the religious rights are given to all the communities and they live in harmony and government never interfere in the religious matters of the non-Muslims, there should be something definitely different behind this.
To say that Malaysia is a liberal, secular state with Islam as its official religion is like saying "a perfectly harmless snake - with deadly poisonous fangs".This boggy of a nation with a population not exceeding that of Mumbai and Kolkata put together should act with a bit of humility, however rich they think they are.
Allah it's a name of god .it can't be prohibited by any religion.this sort of things will make more differences between communities of people.

When will these so called Religious Adviser/Leaders realize that there is a lot more to Islam then just giving out absurd Fatwa's. I wonder if they understand the Quran at all...If your child does a mistake, you inform them of it, and tell them the reasons behind it not to repeat it. You don't them just forbid them from doing it again! Tell the people the Truth about what the are saying/doing!You may stop them from saying something out loud but you can never stop their minds from having the thought!

Christians' core ideology is that God begot his only son Jesus which Muslims and Jews consider as the biggest blasphemy in the history of divinity. Muslims fully recognise Jesus as one of the mightiest prophets of God Almighty, but never ever reduce God to the reproductive functions of the lower animal kingdom. Brahma as Monotheistic Hindus comprehend is close to the Allah concept.
It is strange , because according to this religipon every body is a born muslim , and you are either a beliver in Allah or a non believer and ofcourse death to the non believer .this is a very cpompassionate religion often misunderstood.

Hey! Whoever wrote this allah message. have u ever read the philosophy of islam. It is not strange or confusing that Islam says that everybody is born as a Muslim and when they grow up they are not mulim anymore. Because whenever a baby is born they don't understand anything even they don't know their parents. And also they don't do any sin like drinking alcohol, swearing at people, taking drugs.They don't do that. But when they get big they do all of that. So it's not confusing or strange. It's clear.

Well, Malaysia has been travelling on the road to intolerance for quite some time now. This is the latest crazy scheme some busybody, good for nothing, fatwa issuing air-heads dreamt up. How else will these guys ensure that Islamists remain in the headlines, after all , all publicity is good.
It is completely a wrong perspective by Malaysian Govt that nobody can use the word 'Allah' except Muslims.It is justfiable if it is misused like using the name for animals or something that maligns the meaning of it but to address the God, it can be used.In Middle East the non-Muslims(christians) use the word 'Allah' to address the God as it doesn't mean nothing but 'God' in Arabic language.
Seems that Islam's religious leaders are, more and more, living in a deep and, possibly, a permanent state of self-doubt. As a result, rather than remaining busy guiding their own flock of "believers", these so-called leaders seem to be always on an edge, ever-ready to lash out at all sorts of imagined and imaginary "injustices/insults" of all and sundry "non-believers". It is high time that these "leaders" come out of their obvious time-warp, grow up and stop behaving like a bunch of ever-aggrieved teenagers. This is ridiculous. In my opinion, nobody has a copy right - pun intended - over the way she / he addresses God. Whether one addresses God as Ram / Rahim / Allah / Jesus or what ever else, it's ultimately GOD. This ruling is out right absurd, to say the least.

This is actually an inadvertent admission by Malaysia that allah is not God. Actually, history shows that allah was the name of an idol that existed in Mecca from pre-Islamic days.
The Truth cannot be expressed in any language - it is only experienceable - and those who experienced it tried to convey to others out of sheer love. The lesser mortals who did not understand it used those words as they liked, gave their own meanings, and we are in this mess now. Further, the experienceable can only be imagined until you experience it. This is 'Sankalp' and that is the nearest you can do. The 'Sankalp' goes away once you realise/experience it. Till then whatever word you use to describe it, it remains only 'Sankalp', not the Truth. There is no shortage of words as the 'Sankalp' is unlimited. You can use 'Sankalp' and any word as you prefer as far as your aim is right. It is easy for Hindus, and to a certain extent, for Christians, to understand this; true Muslims understand this; intelligent people understand this. Fanatics love their fancied theories, wherever they belong to.
