New Delhi The 'Shahenshah' of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly angry with the media for not respecting the privacy of the Delhi gangrape victim while being shifted to another location.

The 70-year-old actor, who was rushed to hospital a couple of years ago, recalled the difficulty he and his family faced because of the media frenzy, which delayed his treatment by 20 minutes.

Gangrape survey: 5-pt agenda. Where do you stand?

“Lot of debate and discussion and comments on the media coverage of patient (Delhi gangrape) being shifted in ambulance to another location … patient privacy is an important element in the Constitutional Journals of Medical Ethics,” he said.

“Couple of years ago when I was in an emergency and taken to hospital, media had blocked the ambulance door to such an extent that it took my family and the doctors 20 minutes to open the door to get me out, while I suffered pain inside, impatient to get immediate medical attention,” he added.

In the Delhi gangraped girl's case it took a secret operation to transfer her from Safdarjung hospital to Palam air force station, before she was flown to Singapore on Wednesday night - hospital authorities and the police jointly made elaborate preparations all day, culminating in a 15-minute sequence that saw two apparently hoax ambulances being set up, before the Medanta ambulance with the patient left around 10.30 pm.

An elaborate hoax with burqa-clad people coming in and out of hospital too was enacted before the girl could be moved out of hospital.

Politicians continue to fail if no protests by Shiva on 29 Dec 2012

Amitabh won't be at this level without the support of the people and he failed to understand that the politicians will continue to fail without the protests and there won't be any safety for women and no justice too victims.

Idiotic Perspective by Gopinath on 28 Dec 2012

Mr. Bachan - there s a time to discuss privacy and media manners. Now s not the time. Movies like yours which make women into objects of desire are part of the reason why the poor girl was raped in the first case. You should look at the trash that you produce and ask whether you have improved Indian society or worsened it. Cure yourself first...

Bollywood by deepak on 28 Dec 2012

Bollywood is out of control. It churns out senseless movies mostly plagiarized versions of of graphic sex, mindless violence, extremely rude language, and everything that undermines Indian values. TV serials are about catty women who plot to poison. Recently, projecting a Canadian porn star Sunny Leone into the mainstream limelight by no other than Mahesh Bhatt, a filmmaker well known for his hate of Hindus and an open endorser of Jihadic violence. Is it any surprising that in a country where nearly 30% of the people are illiterate view women as easily available as Sunny Leone?????

Well without media, our politicians and officials will graze on citizens by raj on 28 Dec 2012

Shocking Amitabh !!! you use media day and night to build the movie brands, TV brands and sell the same and you become rich. When the same media highlights how the lawless this country has become and how 1/3 of our elected representatives are rapists you critic them. Shocking ...go to hell. You and your rotten movies

Media and intellectuals behave as if they are the proverbial lizards protecting the roof from falling down. In fact, they are the termites slowly and unknowingly destroying the society through their championing of the freedom of expression which, for them, is meant only to harm, hurt and harass others.

MEDIA IS SHAMELESSLY INTRUDING INTO THE PRIVACY OF AN INDIVIDUAL by Pradeep on 28 Dec 2012

Well said. The media is so much hungry for news. Even the smallest of issue is made big and debated. We see a particular news TV Anchor behaves as if he is the prosecutor, the news room as the court and he himself as the Judge. Media is becoming too much introduing into the privacy of a person. They are a damn but news and sensationalize as if they are the best to cover the news. Many of us, after hearing the headlines, have started swtiching to Musical or other entertianment channels.
