In what may stir a controversy with their old associates, Bedi said: “It is they (Arvind Kejriwal and others) who moved out to form a political party. So we remain the IAC. In any case they will have a new name by November 26, so this should not be an issue.” Fellow Anna team member Medha Patkar insisted that anybody can take up the IAC name. “There is no cheap political fight here.”
Bedi also sought to lay claim to the “revelations” that Team Kejriwal has been making at successive intervals. These exposes, she said, were culled from “information that we had been receiving even while we were together”.
The composition of the team itself was no surprise, with former Army chief V K Singh listed as a special invitee. A statement issued subsequently said the core committee had been reconstituted to re-energise the “IAC movement”.
Apart from Hazare, Bedi and Patkar, the core committee comprises Justice Santosh Hegde, Arvind Gaur, Akhil Gogoi, Sunita Godara, Avinash Dharmadhikari, Vishwambhar Chaudhary, Shashi Kant, Lt Col Bijender Khokhar, Rakesh Rafiq, Ran Singh Arya, Shivendra Singh Chauhan and Akshay Kumar. Rajinder Singh and P V Rajagopal skipped the meeting.
While Hazare aides claimed that the two had stayed out because they were “in talks with the government on own agitations”, Singh contradicted that. “I have always said and I continue to say that I am willing to be part of a team that works in national interest but will not work in a team that is identified by one individual or known by his name. I have said this to them clearly while refusing the invite.”
Rajagopal also said: “I did not attend today’s meeting because I am travelling. But I am willing to join the team provided it is called Team India and not Team Anna and it broadbases itself to address the issues of the real poor rather than remaining an anti-corruption movement of the middle class. Identification of the movement as Team Anna has hurt it rather than helped it.”
The new group will work for setting up a Janlokpal as well as for laws for electoral reforms and also “oppose anti-people policies that leave the country at the mercy of foreign companies, which are taking over our water, land and forests, depriving farmers”.
Bulk of the new core team members were part of the old IAC core committee that Hazare disbanded in August, with the notable omission being agriculturist Davender Sharma, who is known to be close to Swami Ramdev. Sharma’s name had been there in the original list but, sources said, some members had reservations about his open association with the yoga teacher, particularly given the recurrent corruption allegations against him.
Hazare hinted at a massive expansion soon with 40 more members. While dodging a question about Sharma’s exclusion, he said: “I did not want to foist names from above. Now that this committee is in place, members will democratically decide on including new faces. As of now V K Singh will be a special invitee to the core committee. We will have Muslims, tribals and Dalit leaders.”
The new team may organise a convention in Delhi later this month and Hazare said that the target is to develop a four-tier system, down to the block level with 40 volunteers. Patkar said the new core committee will attempt to bring people’s movements from around the country together. “We will challenge Parliament through people power,” she said.
Hazare will start his tour of the country from Bihar in January. On a question about whether he was okay with Kejriwal’s political party reaping the benefits of his nationwide anti-corruption movement, Hazare reiterated his promise to campaign for Kejriwal should he fight elections.
The Anna team’s new office at Sarvodaya Enclave will be inaugurated on Sunday.

IAC should not form a political party. A political party has to fight elections. For fighting lections, huge funds are needed. For this the parties depend on blackmarketeers, money launderes etc. and are bound to do them favour when they are elected. This is the root cause of all corruption in India. IAC too will find itself, will- nilly, treading the same path if it enters politics, and will have to make great compromises on its ideological principles.
All actions of us have time limits but living under an environment of confusion which is forcefully imposed upon us through misuse of one's Power that the Public has offered to to them to deliver;we landed into a no man's land due to our seeing of the same event through different eyes.In order to pursue a cause to grow with strength acquired over time;we need to be patient; ignoring the environment so created by the Authoritative figures who pushed the Country to shed its Name and Glory. With doing of Corruption becoming a routine matter, none is seems to border about it but looking for finding innovative ways to engage in more deeply ignoring all deliveries to the Public.Hence we unable to see much outcome of the revelations which have become due;in view of our not learning what is demanded by the Country to remain alive.Let us not become good orator to misguide us but LOVE the Country just a little from the heart which shall not allow one to engage in any Corruption.
Yes,We, Aam Admi needs to do following to minimize corruption in our country by forcing many steps !! like, absolute change of tax laws, accountability of all beurocrates of all positions i.e. peon to minister !!!! and many more so that no body needs to create black money !!!! Laws are having many many loop holes and beurocrates and minister have make them absolute meaningless and shows power to Aam Admi making them scared as they know that Aam Admi can not afford to fight them !!!!!!!!!! I have detail planes to combat these menace but these people and chartered accountants and lawyers of these type of offenses will not accept them as they will fear of loosing their business and earnings too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But than only true Ram Rajya can be brought in our GREAT Nation INDIA.
Anna and team are talking somethings that will not get anywhere near desired goal - Free against corruption. Bhook Hartal, sitting and scratching bums in villages - Nothing will happen really. Power, open fight back against corrupt people is required. Anna cannot do that.
Anna Ji, Why any rift with Arvind? I know that you are working very hard and unhappy over Arvind's move to form a political party. But I am sure he is doing the most correct thing. Anna Ji our Political system has has become a stinking pond and there is not only one fish which is polluted. There are many. You can not clean the pond just by standing at the bank and shouting. You will have to enter it to clean it of garbages. We ordinary people are mute supporters of whatever we have. We do not have any option but to believe our leaders who ever tries to fight for us. We supported Congress, BJP, You and now supporting Arvind as well. All parties made propmisses for good but now they all seem hollow. You gave us a hope for change but you do not want to enter the system to correct it. Then the same people will get elected and we will be back to sqaure one. Arvind has taken a very bold and right step at the right time. What our country needs is only 50 honest persons at the top.
" India Against Corruption " has put the Indians in Dilemma that Which Social Organization is really having a vision of India against Corruption . Arvind Kejriwal or Anna Hazare . As Arvind Kejriwal has announced forming a Political Party where as on the other hand Anna Hazare has out rightly rejected the formation of Political Party and Anna Hazare team will work as a social organization awakening the people against evil concepts like corruption where as Arvind Kejriwal is unearthing the Political Parties nexus with Industrialists .
Very immature and childish on part of Anna to crave for a name. A man of his experience and wisdom should not be fixated with a name and he is acting like a child clamoring for a toy. It is not name that counts it is how well you play the game that counts.
