Beset by trouble, Kamal scripted one solution but was knocked out by yet another blow today. (AP)

New Delhi Within hours of blaming a political conspiracy against him for the ban on his controversial film 'Vishwaroopam', Kamal Haasan, after meeting Muslim representatives said that an amicable solution has been found and that everyone should now move on.

"My Muslim family has reached out to me and asked me whether I can do something to solve their problem. I have promised that I will do anything for my Muslim brothers," Kamal said in a press meet held on the street.

Representatives of Muslim organisations and at least one senior member of the Congress party reportedly attended the meeting where the actor was handed over a list that provides instances, scene-by-scene and word-by-word where problems of interpretation of the Quran have happened that are leading to outrage and hurting religious sentiments.

Kamal has agreed to edit and remove certain portions of the film that contain objectionable material that purportedly bring the Holy Quran into disrepute.

With violence increasing and Kamal being pushed to the corner on his film 'Vishwaroopam', a mutually acceptable solution with protesting Muslim organisations had become imperative, according to sources.

Kamal underlined the importance of the compromise formula, "This film is not anti-Indian Muslims. This film is pro-Indian Muslims. I have come to an understanding with my Muslim brothers. Now, nothing untoward should come to pass against my Muslim brothers."

Now, Kamal said that he expects a favourable order from the High Court.

However, within minutes of saying that, Kamal received a big setback.

The honourable High Court has not obliged him as it has stalled the screening of 'Vishwaroopam' till further orders in its order today late afternoon - solution may come probably well past next Wednesday - unless Kamal goes to Supreme Court, which according to sources, he has decided to do as soon as possible.

HC had sent him back to single-judge bench to file an affidavit before it.

democracy and secularism by shyam on 31 Jan 2013

secular country doesn't mean you could do anything which might hurt the culture and holy books of anyone. That is autocratic culture. Had the same situation faced to any other community citing their holy books encouraging terrorism, would they remain calm..? it is pity that iso marked sangh forces criticising mf hussain and at the same time supporting kamal.

Is india a free democracy? by Hillary Clington on 31 Jan 2013

When people can not express freely this country India is low down on freedom and democracy and probably worse than china where at least people can openly criticise muslims.

Pseudosecularism by satyanarayana on 30 Jan 2013

Of late Judiciary is more interested in creating sensation rather delivering true justice. Money laundering & Political motivation for some consideration has become well known attitude for giving Judgment by learned judges And corruption in judiciary has been talked in public For which many evidences are.Now Madras High Court Judges are playing with Politicians is strongly evident. Kamal Hasan is a gift to TamilNadu Unlike Rajnikant he is a bornTamilian, color , features and Personality is still superb which is first & foremost requirement for a Actor at first look. He has command over all the aspects of film making. Which none of our Indian artiste right from Bollywood has got. Simply acting as per direction is not a big achievement . In his form TN is blessed Even in Northern part of India he is only known Tamil actor known & praised Other actors are are even known to lions share of population whom Tamilnadu people celebrate as Superstar unknown to many.

agreed, well said

WITCH HUNT by M U SHANKAR on 30 Jan 2013

The ban is purely due to political reasons. Kamal is a very very intellectual man and very good gentleman. He has shown the film for the so called leaders of muslim. They should have protested to Kamal after seeing the film, instead of that they have come to streets and one section of politics for vote bank politics supporting them. The only way for Kamal is to appeal in the Supreme Court as early as possible and get the ban stayed and film is screened in Tamil Nadu.

Viswaroopam by Abdul Jabbar on 30 Jan 2013

This indeed is not a fight between Kamal and Muslims. We Muslims have absolutely no objection against this film. He is telling a story and do not mix that up with any faith. In Kerala State where I live, the film is running without any problem and this is a state that is considered to have more Muslims who're supposed to be more fanatical and fundamental compared to other states in India. Let us wait. The real cause for all this noise will come out.

Bow down to pressure by MKB on 30 Jan 2013

Kamal should not bow down to pressure or the Govt. of TN and other state. If any thing factually incorrect has been shown in the picture, Kamal can be procecuted. But after the clearnce from censor board, it is absolutely unjustified to bann the movie.

Vishwaroopam by Vasu on 30 Jan 2013

I don't know the merits of the debate. But if Rajnikant supports Kamal, we all Indians should support kamal. Bigots RIP

LESSONS FOR KAMAL AND LIKES by RAMESH on 30 Jan 2013

WORDS LIKE SECULAR HAVE NO RELEVANCE IN THIS MATTER. IT IS PURELY LIKES AND DISLIKES. HOPE KMAL REALIZES THIS, THOUGH IT IS VERY UNFAIR TO HIM. IN FUTURE, NEVER INSULT HINDU GODS AND HINDUS. LEARN THIS LESSON, AT LEAST NOW.

Freedom of speech by Karthik on 30 Jan 2013

"Right to freedom which includes speech and expression" is one of the fundamental rights of every Indian citizen. So, everyone is free to express their views. If you don't like someone's view, you have the right to disagree. But you do not have any rights to oppress views that you don't agree with. If you don't like Kamal "insulting" gods (I don't know when he ever did this), then don't see his movies. You don't have any rights to try and prevent someone (who actually wants to go and see the movie) from seeing it.

LESSONS FOR KAMAL AND LIKES by RT on 30 Jan 2013

No Ramesh. The lesson everybody in this country including movie moghuls, media moghuls etc learnt and which will get re-inforced now is that always insult only Hindu Gods/Saints. Never do it to anything sounding Muslim. Don't even talk about it, show it and even think about it. That is what our institutions are doing to the populace. RT

THANKS TO RAMESH by Mohamed on 30 Jan 2013

Dear friend RAMESH, You contradict yourself, you expect KAMAL not to insult HINDUS AND THEIR GODs whereas you mentioned that the current situation is UNFAIR to KAMAL, means KAMAL SHALL NOT HURT HINDUS AND THEIR HINDUS SENTIMENTS but HE CAN DISCRIMINATED MUSLIMS. Thanks for your secularism.
