BC minister offers exchange programme for teachers, experts

Chandigarh, January 30 The visiting Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister of British Columbia, Michael De Jong, today offered services to the Punjab government for upgrading technical skills and knowledge through experts and teachers’ exchange programmes in the sphere of primary and secondary education, technical education, skill development, telemedicine, bio-technology, nanotechnology and information technology.

Jong made this offer here today during a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Badal informed the delegation that Punjabis shared a special bonding with British Columbia, where they had a strong presence and had always contributed immensely towards its economic prosperity.

The Chief Minister told Jong that the Punjab government would soon ink a memorandum of understanding with British Columbia for bilateral cooperation in the field of transportation and education.

He also requested Jong to consider Punjab as their top preference for importing manpower and also ease the procedure for migration of skilled youths.

Jong said British Columbia was looking forward for collaboration with Punjabi University, Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab Technical University, Panjab University Chandigarh and Punjab Agricultural University.
