BJP furious as Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA says 'we built Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, what have you done?'

Hyderabad A senior BJP leader today strongly condemned the alleged objectionable remarks made by MIM legislator Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri about Mahatma Gandhi's statue in the state Assembly premises.

Quadri found fault with the installation of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the state Legislative Assembly premises as the building was built by erstwhile Nizam government, BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya said.

Delivering his speech at a book distribution ceremony for Urdu medium students at Jagtiyal, Karimnagar distric, the MLA, who represents Charminar constituency, allegedly used objectionable words about the statue of Mahatma Gandhi while addressing a public meeting at Jagityal in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh on January 17.

A hardcore loyalist of Owaisi family, Quadri also said “Today whatever there is in India are our signs, you tell us what your achievements are.”

Then again in the midst of slogan shouting he continued his ‘us’ and ‘they’ rhetoric saying, “The colour of Red Fort has been given by us, the height of Qutub given by us, the beauty of Taj Mahal also given by us, historic monuments like Mecca Masjid and Charminar are presented by us... what have you done in Hindustan?”

"The remarks of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator are an affront to the nation," the BJP leader said.

The BJP president of Jagtial town in Karimnagar district, Raju, has already filed a police complaint against Quadri for the alleged objectionable remarks.

The complaint has been sent to the public prosecutor for opinion, police said.

Meanwhile, Dattatreya expressed surprise that MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, arrested on charges of delivering provocative speech, denied that voice in the CDs (hate speech) was his.

"It was a tactic to escape from the charges in the case," the former Union Minister said.

Does it hurt because it bites? by Tru on 19 Jan 2013

Firstly, I am a hindu so no religious bashing please. But the truth is no great monuments have been built by indians - hindus or muslims. It is all by outside powers mughals or brits. Do we have a single great monument that we can call our own? The richest city in India where tatas, ambanis and wadia live is one shed of filth and disease. It stinks from the time you step into the city. India may be a giant in the future. I hope we build one single great monument that showcases it today. Respond by building something great. Not with filth on the online forums

Really??? by sunny on 21 Jan 2013

Your knowledge of historic monuments and wonders of the world is so pathetic that it is embarrassing to the rest of Indians. All the remarkable and breath-takingly beautiful temples, forts and palaces, which find their way into the UNESCO's heritage sites and beautiful wonders of the world are hindu constructions dating much before moghul invasion. One of the world's oldest and largest astronomy observatory was built by Indians much before Islam invasion. Hindus gave maths, algebra, astronomy, cosmetic surgery, medical sciences, alchemy much before the muslim world even came to know about such things. The number system we use today is Hindu invention, which later was taken by the Arabs and then passed on to the Europeans. The list goes on and on...yet numbskulls like youself don't even know your own country's history or worth. I bet you know how to eat egg muffin...and thats about it.

Mussalmans never built those by D.Bose on 20 Jan 2013

Mussalmans never built Taj Mahal or Qutab Minar or Red Fort; these were pre-Islamic building with anti-Islamic features in the architectures. These were like many other temples and palaces were renovated by the Mussalmans. Mussalmans used to be nomadic barbarians Turks, Arabs or Mongols, when they came to India (according to Karl Marx). They had no concept of building anything as they used to live in tents.

MIM MLa's rhetoric against Gandhi statue. by Kusalovir on 19 Jan 2013

What has this MLA or his party MIM got to do with Red Fort, Qutab Minar or Taj Mahal!!!!!! When these structures came up, MIM was not in the imagination of any human being on the face of the earth. It may also be interesting to know as to the ancestry of the irresponsible MLA : whether they were the natives of India or had come from beyond India. If his forefathers were natives of India, then in all probability they would have been Hindus whom he is targetting now , albeit without wit or intelligence. Very disgusting! It is a sad commentary on democracy in action in India that such people get elected to August Houses of Legislatures.

Alzheimer's? by anonymous on 19 Jan 2013

Wonder if the MLA has heard about Mahabalipuram, Madurai Meenakshi Temple, Hawa Mahal, Ajanta Ellora caves, Tirupati Temple. These were not built by "Muslims" . The MLA apparently suffers from Alzheimer's.

Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar by Suresh on 19 Jan 2013

True Democracy by Mujeeb Hussani on 19 Jan 2013

Where is the democracy? Where is the largest democratic government in the world? India is behaving with minorities like China with Tabtains. This is so called Democracy, in democracy tolerance is the most important aspect, but in India it is provocative statement if someone shows the mirror to the history. Please face the reality, this is true what MIM said.

India: Divided to the limit by Aniket@express.com on 19 Jan 2013

Here's one more person dividing the country to fuel his political agenda. The state is no more the subject of pride for these so called "political leaders".They use country and words, the way they want. Somebody differentiates between India and Bharat. How can their conscience allow them to do such things. I am still confused whether India exists as a whole or there are still many India's in millions of 'Indian' minds...?

Indian monuments by VA on 19 Jan 2013

In Rajastan monuments are by Hindu Kings and in Hyderabad by Nawabs and in Delhi by Mugal Kings etc who ruled they made. Taking credit for it now is not required. Now let him try to uplift Indian Muslims. put energy for that and not make communal statements. Let us all grow in new India.

Hum Hundustani by Gary on 19 Jan 2013

How can you built all this without our Hindustani land ? There is nothing wrong in asserting what you did and capable of but its wrong to say these words to people of Hindustan who give you chance to show your skill.
