I am not a poll analyst and from what little I have observed the following factor emerges. The Shiv Sena and BJP combine has dedicted followers who make it a point to vote in the elections. May be there are many who are opposed to the saffron ideology but do not exercise their franchise. This attitude is actually killing democracy.

MAHARASHTRA MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS by raja on 17 Feb 2012

In an interview published on Feb16, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra had termed the municipal election as a mini general election and the congress will sweep the polls. Unfortunately the congress has been swept under and MrPrithviraj Chavan should do what is morally right in the circumstances.
