Today's politicians lack sense of humor to enjoy their own cartoons by KS Raghunathan on 15 Apr 2012

Though cartoons are an integral part of democracy, cartoonists are slowly on the decline. If "Times of India" had RK Laxman to boast, "Indian Express" had Kutty to neutralize to a large extent. Newspapers used to sell just for its cartoons. Today, we neither have those quality in the caricatures, nor politicians like Late Prime Minister Mr Jawaharlal Nehru endowed with such sense of humor, to enjoy cartoons at their own expense.

Democracy and Cartoons by Babu on 15 Apr 2012

Hey Mr Dinesh rivedi, I understand that you support cartoons as part of democracy. I agree with you, but did you ever open your mouth against Islamists creating havoc for Prophet Mohammed's cartoon even in the places which had nothing to do with cartoon and Did you speak against when recently your UPA govt asked google to remove the material having some cartoon about Madam Sonia Maino Gandhi. Is your support to freedom of expression is polarized being a 'sickular (meaning pued secular for vote bank) or are a dishonest commie?

Kolkata not Calcutta by Swapan Chakravarthy on 15 Apr 2012

Jadavpur University has always had the tradition where students have been violent on their teachers. In 1969 it was Prof Samar Guha who faced the wrath of SFI. Then some unknown persons killed Prof Gopal Sen in the campus. And now Prof Mohapatra. Good or bad, I am an honoured alumni of Jadavpur University. It was Calcutta then and Kolkata now. When I left Jyotibabu deservedly was defeated and then it was a 34-year mayhem of mal-administration and exhibition of incompetence. It will not change because Didi then a CP activist had this maverick style of tooth for a tooth. And when such personalities take over regimes, it is just too much for the populace to expect. What Didi had done in asking Trivedi to be replaced is an error which the government at the Centre should have tackled. MMS operates on survival for all except the polity with that is India. Therfore, as Indians we need to rise. Left, right and center we should knock off Mayawati to Mamata; from Sonia to Priyanka!!

Cartoon episode by P N SUKHEJA on 15 Apr 2012

It is correct that a person standing on his/her feet should not be perturbed by cartoons, but what about a person standing on his/her toes? he/she has always fear to fall. Didi after very long, more than decade old struggle has won the power and achieved her aim naturally she has to be very cautious about her reputation. Trivediji you have to agree that she is the only leader who restrict the center from taking anti, common man steps, had you not proposed marginal rise in railway fares Didi would not have easily allowed rise in excise and service tax and its widening.

Politicians by Shyamal Pal on 15 Apr 2012

Very Sorry, but we all have to agree, however reluctantly, that most of the present day politicians with the exception of a few, have, through their own acts of commission and omission lowered their own dignity and by default made a cartoon of themselves in the public eye.

Democracy by Sandeep on 15 Apr 2012

Public criticism is one of basics of Democracy. If one can't stand criticism, then he/she should stand for election.

Cartoons they are by gmenon on 15 Apr 2012

Did you mean " should not" ?Or are you saying that these cartoons win the election, and does not want them represented as cartoons? May be the CArtoonist turned strongman of Mumbai should be asked what he thinks about cartoons of politicians.
