Castrate rapists, says Haryana Women Commission chief

VARINDER BHATIA

Posted: Oct 01, 2012 at 0322 hrs IST

Chandigarh Haryana State Commission for Women chairperson Sushila Sharma has said that those accused of gangrape should be castrated. Sharma said this after meeting the victim of recent gangrape at Jind. “The accused who committed gangrape, and circulated its MMS should be castrated so that they can feel the pain and agony caused due to the crime committed by them throughout their lives,” Sharma said.

Sharma and a team of State Women Commission officers visited Hisar, Jind and Sonepat, and met recent rape victims. “I visited all three victims of the recent gangrapes and assured them support and speedy justice. I will write to the state government to formulate a strategy and devise mechanism to stop circulation of such MMS,” Sharma said.

“I stand by my statement. It’s the same statement that I made in Hisar.. .We need to look at the impunity with which these criminals first rape a woman, even minors, and then circulate the MMS of the rapes. After meeting these victims, one realises the pain and humiliation that they will be forced to go through their lives...Gangrapes in Haryana have become routine and a source of recreation for youngsters,” Sharma added.

There should be laws which has clauses to prevent its misuse too by CommonMan on 21 Dec 2012

In India whatever women says is taken as Gospel Truth and convict innocent men without proper investigation. and there are many reports of false accusation of Rape, for instance, there was an accusation in 2006 against Mr P J Joseph(Ex-minster, govt of kerala) and later he was found innocent.Law should be Gender neutral, In India Women can accuse anyone and she need no proof to prove it.After castration if Accused found Innocent can these Women Organisations revert what damage they have done to an Innocent%u2026..?

Castration will also not guarantee that he will not repeat the evil deed with some one else. Law should be amended to chop off his organ itself. Probably then it might act as a deterrent for such psycho demons in our society.

This is absolute necessity. In order to protect women and girls, for any rapist should be given the same kind of punishment - Castration - in order to deter such crimes. It is high time that the government institute a judicial commission to find out reforms in our judicial system which has become less effective these days. A case study in Kerala has revealed that over the past decade or so, criminal cases has multiplied more than four-fold which speaks of ineffective judicial system. No punishment acts as a deterrant to the criminals. Ways to improve the effectiveness of the system should be urgently found out in order to reduce the crime rates rather than growing to many-folds.

Rape a source of recreation- Castrate and send the message loud and clear by Guruji on 01 Oct 2012

A path breaking thought should be implemented. Their sperms can be stored at Govt cost to ensure their right to procreation is not violated. The right to libidousness should be penalised permanently for the crime comitted which is fare as the rape victim is permanently scarred for life.

Sushila Sharma should be relieved of her duties immediately for making irresponsible comments in concern with her work. Ramdev has similarly discredited himself by advocating that corrupt officials be "publicly hanged". Such comments are uttered merely to attract cheap publicity

Yes - Totally agree.

punishing rapist criminals by Ramaswamy A on 01 Oct 2012

Although it might appear a bit crude the suggestion by Sushila Sharma has to be certainly taken into consideration. it is not without logic.Reasonable prima facie evidence must put the criminals on doctor's table. In case the victim dies the punishment should be no less than hanging.

Punishment recommended by social heart on 01 Oct 2012

Every sane person in India shall agree to the punishment recommended to such demons......Let this not be a wishful thinking just to burst out an anger . Madam, use your official capacity and draft a aw... We will create a public pressure to see that such law is passed.
