Traders said buying activity in copper picked up as the metal climbed in overseas markets on optimism that demand will rise with manufacturing gains in China and the US.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery was up by 0.5 per cent to USD 8,089 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap gained Rs 2 to Rs 436 per kg.
The following are metal rates per kg: Zinc ingot 123-127, nickel plate (4x4) 1,065-1,068, gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 436,
chadri deshi 285.
Lead ingot 144, lead imported 142, aluminium ingots 132, sheet cutting 133, aluminium wire scrap 137 and aluminium utensils scrap 132.
