Dawood Ibrahim has same IQ level as Swami Vivekananda, says BJP chief Nitin Gadkari

BJP president Nitin Gadkari says the intelligence quotient level of Swami Vivekanand and Dawood Ibrahim is almost the same.

Bhopal BJP president Nitin Gadkari said the intelligence quotient level of Swami Vivekanand and Dawood Ibrahim was almost the same, but the spiritual leader had used it for nation building while the underworld don for pursuing crime.

"In psychology, we measure IQ level of people... But it depends from person to person, in which area they use their intelligence," Gadkari said at an award ceremony here.

"As per psychology if we can compare the IQ level of Swami Vivekanand and that of Dawood Ibrahim, then it could have been almost the same. But Vivekanand used it in nation building, brotherhood and spiritualism while Dawood used that in excelling in crime world," he added.

The BJP president said this while making his point that discrimination between men and women on the basis of caste, religion, language and gender is unfair and people should be judged only on the basis of their qualities.

Quoting Vivekanand, he said the 21st century belongs to knowledge and considering that India has a bright future.

Gadkari also said politics is a domain full of individuals who are not satisfied with what they have achieved.

Gadkari clarifies

Under sharp criticism over his alleged comparison of the intelligence quotient level of Swami Vivekanand and Dawood Ibrahim, Gadkari on Monday clarified that he was not drawing any comparison, but drew contrast between the spiritual guru and underworld don.

"I have made no comparison between Swami Vivekananda and Dawood Ibrahim.

I said that if someone uses his or her intellect in the right way it is like Vivekananda, in the wrong way it is like Dawood," he said.

Mr. Gadkari is quite right and media should highlight the point he made clear - use IQ for viirtue! It is unfair to 'read' it negatively and mislead.

The IQ of Swami Vivekananda by Asadulgaba on 07 Nov 2012

Although I am not a fan of Gadkari, I agree to what he said. Gadkari was talking about IQ and not the Character! Do you think it is easy to develop and operate billions of dollars worth global criminal empire and poke fun at powerful nations? I think Veerappan's IQ was even higher because the whole Indian machinery could not catch him while he was living within the boundaries.

Opposites. by ragu on 05 Nov 2012

It's the difference between 100 % Ignorance ( Don) and Unlimited Intelligence ( Swami Vivekananda). They are two extremes of Intelligence . Gadkari doesn't understand either of them.

IQ philosophy by LD on 05 Nov 2012

Best to ignore. I am afraid the TV channels today will have hours of debate on whether you agree with Gadkari or not. Some may even say Gadkari has even hogher IQ but unfortunately he has used it for activities of business immoralaty and against ethical conduct and avoiding taxes. So best to ignore such comments and focus on more important issues.

The comment should be taken in right perspective i.e use of talent in right direction. In such case example of virtuous use of talent and criminal use of talent is not unjustified. The examples taken by Gadkari does not means that he is equaling both. The reaction are out of proportion. Gadkari may be guilty of other hundred things but it does not mean that even good things he says or does have to be condemned.

Brilliant Comparison by manav on 05 Nov 2012

What an enlightened piece of content this is . I think we need more such comparisons by eminent leaders of all the parties. What is there is discuss about how much each political party head has made in terms of kickbacks. What is there to discuss if some political party head makes his drivers and sweepers and bodyguards as directors of their industrial empire .

Choose words by sampat on 05 Nov 2012

There does not seem to be much point in this comparative study. Gadkari till he is President of BJP should choose his words.

Gadkari's statement is also shameful and it is not suitable for a swayamsevak, i think that bjp should avoid busines cum politicians for selecting as the national face of the party, their busines dealings badly affect the party and sangh ideology

so what is con(s)gress saying? by josh on 05 Nov 2012

Is Congress implying one of swami . and dawood is in fact a moron or genius? Given its uninhibited deference to its votebank, I wonder which it would name? Maybe it's implying all criminals are of low IQ - that would explain its stand against an independent Lokpal and CBI.

Such is the state of journalism by Sandeep on 05 Nov 2012

Such is the sorry state of journalism in India. There is absolutely nothing in his IQ statement that is "controversial", yet it is forcefully portrayed that way. And to top it people are jumping to foolish conclusions & commenting without using their brains.
