Differences have cropped up among BJP MPs on the promotion quota bill, a day after a bill in this regard was passed by the Rajya Sabha.

New Delhi Differences cropped up among BJP MPs on the issue of providing reservation in promotion for SC and ST government employees a day after a bill in this regard was passed by the Rajya Sabha.

"On the issue of reservation, yes there were discussions and different voices also came about. But the leaders explained that whole Constitutional amendment has been changed substantially because of the intervention of BJP," party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said today.

He was talking to reporters after BJP Parliamentary party meeting here.

Prasad said the leaders explained that the norms of efficiency (in governance) under Article 335 of the

Constitution shall not be ignored even while giving promotion to SC/ST employees.

"Those who have been promoted post-1995 will not be reverted. The government has given an assurance that this being an enabling provision, the Centre will write to all the states to ensure that those who have been promoted, their interest is not adversely impacted due to the amendment," he said.

While BJP had supported the measure, its NDA partner Shiv Sena is opposed to it, besides Samajwadi Party which was isolated during voting in the Upper House where the Bill was passed by overwhelming majority.

If you failed to uplift them in 65 years, it means something wrong in implementation.... by Aarkay on 18 Dec 2012

Cheap vote politics to woo the voters from the oppressed class. Give them all the help to do well at par with others. Give them good education first. Bring out reservation with an income ceiling so that the really needy reap the benefits of it. And, let the reservation be only for studies. Beyond that, let them compete with others on a level play field and come out real winners proudly. Do not throw them cheap alms like this and cripple their real growth. This only widen the gap between them and others. Cheap, dirty tricks to get votes at any cost and these people can even lick their feet for the sake of their votes.

All political parties have cheated Indian on reservation. the political parties have interest for their existance and not the nation. they thing about vote bank safety and not national integrity. The concept of reservation is initially very bad and not just and proper. Shame to all the Indian political parties without exception and in particular BJP which has acted with double mouthed object.

It appears that it is political stratgey for 2014 general election. As it is even if the Bill is passed in Parliament and become Act it will be decalred invalid by Supreme Court. BJP intends to take BSP tgether to fight UP election 2014 agaisnt Congress and SP.
