Bhopal Deprecating the electronic media over coverage of protests following the gangrape in Delhi, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday said it was playing the roles of police station, prosecution and the judge.

“During the agitation following the gangrape of a girl in New Delhi, the electronic media has become the police station, the prosecution and even the judge,” Digvijay said.

After police constable Subhash Chand Tomar died during the agitation in the aftermath of the Delhi gangrape, the electronic media showed an eyewitness who claimed to have seen the security personnel falling down, he said.

The eyewitness was even shown saying that the policeman had not been hit by anything, the Congress leader said, adding that all this was not the job of the electronic media.

“I think all of us have become irrelevant and the nation should be left at the mercy of the electronic media who will run it,” Singh said.

He said, however, in contrast, the print media “behaves responsibly” and does not go on and on about any particular story.

So he came out of slumber. Can't expect of him to speak after due diligence. Police Commissioner can foretell the contents of post mortem report and media in not allowed to defend the public even with video footage! True character of our government and it's style!

Its true that Media is going over board. Some of the Media is pre-determined to direct the discussion in such a way, their judgement is carried away in debate.

Media is right by aravind nadathur on 29 Dec 2012

If POlice, Politicians and the Judiciary perform their duties why wud anybody believe the media . Media is showing it because people have lost faith in all the pillars of democracy in India. People belive media when they feel it is relevant with their day to day life style.
