Don't resort to cheap gimmicks, Narendra Modi tells Kapil Sibal

Ahmedabad Taking another swipe at Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal over Aakash tablets, Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asked him not to indulge in “cheap gimmicks” and instead make honest efforts to deliver the promised device to the youths.

The comments came after Sibal shot off a letter and two tablets to Modi who had criticised the “delay” in delivery of the device to the students.

“Instead of cheap gimmicks, the minister (Sibal) should first inform the nation on his promise to provide Aakash tablet to 10 lakh youths in 2011!” tweeted Modi. “In future, Mr Sibal should make honest effort to ensure delivery of good quality computing & access device to our youth,” he added.

Reacting to Modi’s earlier criticism over “delay” in delivery of Aakash, Sibal had said, “We have sent the devices to the chief minister (Modi). He lives in netherworld, I have shown him on land that Aakash is in your hand.”

Sibal had sent a letter and two Aakash tablets to Modi saying “...Your statement has disappointed me. Education is a collaborative venture beyond the pale of politics and we need to work together in the best interest of the children...”

Narendra Modi to Kapil Sibal by SRIGAN on 01 Oct 2012

NamoJi, while one appreciates your valid point, one wonders whether it is not time that leaders of your stature rise above party politics to usher in an era of positive governance. BJP, under your guidance & leadership, can regain power if it draws up a manifesto for common man's benefit:- food, water, shelter, electricity, hygiene health, education, disaster mitigation, infrastructure, transparency in governance, right to recall under-/non-performing legislators at all levels. Please think like a global leader on Indian issues. Let others do the politics and perish.

Wah Mr Modi. You do the Sadbhavna Yatra, you roam around Gujarat with the statue of Swami Vivekananda fixed on the hood of a car, you claim that central programs for social development are coming out of the goodness of your heart: and you have the sense to accuse others of 'cheap gimmicks'?

Modi's outbursts by Subbu on 01 Oct 2012

Though CONGIS have proved unfit to rule, Mass Murderer Modi wants to remain in limelight by making stupid and senseless statements. Though he knows nobody will support him outside Gujarat - including his own BJP men, he wants to remain in headlines by flogging the Congis - a dead horse. Probably, that day is not far off when Modi will go to prison to give company to his girlfriend Maya Kodnani.

Sibal's gimmik by Sandeep Raje on 01 Oct 2012

Mr. Sibal should have understood the comment, tablets needs to be delievered to youth not Mr. Modi, who already has computer/laptop. It is a gimik by minister. It's time congress must stop gimmiks like paisa zad par nahi ugta....then stop all so called schemes to appease high command & thrusting wrong habits of "fokatia"to so called minority & poor who have all the money to buy latest cell phones.

Cheap gimmick by Subhash on 01 Oct 2012

Mr.Sibal, Modi is a chief Minister, he could have purchased any tablet available in the world, why do you send 2 tablets to him? instead you should have sent that 2 tablets to two poor STUDENTS out of thousands of students whom you had promised to give these tablets in 2011. At least you could have fullfilled your promise by .0002 percent. STOP SUCH CHEAP gimmicks.
