In a petition filed before the Malkajgiri court of Ranga Reddy district, BJP's State Executive Committee member Satish Agarwal said the Congress had, in its manifesto before the 2004 general elections, promised to carve a separate Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh.
Even Sonia Gandhi had promised Telangana at a public meeting in Karimnagar district during an election campaign in 2004, he said. But despite the Congress coming to power, announcing a decision on creating a Telangana state was still being prolonged, the BJP leader said.
The Congress leaders gave a commitment on the demand for a Telangana state but the promise has not been fulfilled, he said in the petition and alleged only Sonia Gandhi was responsible for the delay in not granting statehood to the region, which in turn resulted in a spate of suicides there.
Congress MPs and MLAs now support creating a Telangana state, he claimed, and accused Gandhi of delaying an announcement on Telangana. He claimed the delay forces the region's youth to commit suicide and sought the court to issue a direction to the police to register of a case under cheating and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against the UPA chairperson.
The court will hear the matter tomorrow.
In a related development, the 11th Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Ranga Reddy district asked Chaitanyapuri police today to investigate another complaint against the union ministers and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, which alleges that they cheated people of the region by going back on their statements over the Telangana statehood demand. Meanwhile, the Chaitanyapuri police said they were yet to get a copy of the court orders in this regard.
Based on a private complaint filed by a practicing advocate Madhu Kumar, the court asked the police to investigate the matter and submit a status report by February
28.
Shinde, who had set a one-month deadline for a decision in December 2012, said on January 27 that the consultation process on Telangana issue was underway.
On December 28, 2012, Shinde had said the Centre would announce a decision on the contentious issue in a month.
On December 9, 2009, the then Union Home Minister Chidambaram had announced that the process to create a Telangana state would be initiated by moving a resolution in the state assembly.
However, as protests mounted against the proposed bifurcation of the state in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, Chidambaram had said on December 23, 2009, that the Centre wanted to consider "all views" on the demand for Telangana state and that "peace and tranquility should be maintained".

JAI TELENGANA
nothing will happen
Telangana for sure would be yet another Jharkhand! Barring the belligerent political goons and their followers, the common man on the street has hardly come forward! May God forbid, if Telangana is given, its quite likely for us to see a new CM every 3rd month, this is no exaggeration but an imminent fall out, look at the number of people spearheading the movement. This should probably go into record books for being a party with 99% leaders and 1% followers!
Only fools believe on the promises of politicians like Chidambaram or Shinde. As such no cognigance shall be given on promises made by all polticians. Court cases against politicians for cheating shall be infructuous on this ground.
Why not Anna hazare ddoes the same thing?take the cunning liers to court straight away.cheaters of public should count the bricks of jail.BREACH OF TRUST FROM TOP TO BOTTOM IS THE CULTURE HANDED TO US BY THE PRESENT DEMOCRACY IN INDIA.
sonia Gandhi is doing good job which not giving telangana it is waste and not get the benefit to our muslim brothers I kindly Request to sonia Gandhi please dont seperate telegana it is good for you and your party
Sonia Gandhi Betrayed people of Telangana its clear,Some of the leaders say they never kept Telangana in their manifesto but some videos shows Sonia talking about Telangana in a public meeting along with YSR and D Srinivas beside on telangan and she has Kept telangana on top in manifesto. She should have address atleast once to people of telangana which she never did .God saves telangana and its people.
Filing cases against the party and its leaders for either not fullfilling the promises made by them or cheating the general public for sake of votes is a welcome and healthy move. The public awareness regarding their legal rights will be improved with such moves. Also, politicans will take control over their tongue and in future they may afraid to committ false and impossible commitments or promises.Telangana people were taken granted for decades and were time and again cheated and fooled by the congress party and others.Unfortunately, even the union govt. is backtracking its promise on the telangana.Recall its decision of carving the state on dec92009 and also the home ministry failure to come out with a decision in a months time as promised by him.Congress party as well as govt.too had dented and teared the fabric of democracy.
Sonia maino is famous for making empty assurances. They promised Telengana state in 2004 eletion manifesto.only to cheat to get votes.I also remember her telling in an electon meeting promising Cavery waier to Tamilnadu and central govt is not even prepared to notify tibunal award for years. It only shows that they consider the people as fools which really they are as they keep voting lured by freebeeis
MY HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES FOR THE CONGRESS PARTY OF ITS HANDICAP MENTALITY TOWARDS TELANGANA PEOPLE. THE PARTY WILL MANIPULATE TILL 2014 TO GET VOTES FROM TELANGANA PEOPLE & THEN DITCH THEM AS THEIR NATURE OF THE PARTY IS ALWAYS TO CHEAT! WHAT A SAD DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY WE LIVE IN.
