Dr Chittaranjan Andrade delivered a talk on Psychopharmacology of schizophrenia - “Past, Present, But No Future”. He stated that schizophrenia is a psychotic mental disorder in which the patient has disturbance in thinking, mood and behaviour. Patients usually shows blunt effects of bizarre behaviour. Nowadays, however, effective medicines for the treatment of schizophrenia are available.
Dr Rajiv Gupta, President, Indian association of Private Psychiatry, North Zone from Ludhiana shared his experience in dealing with patients addicted to drugs in Punjab. He stated that there was hardly any segment of the population in the state which has been spared by this menace.
While discussing about increasing incidents of eve teasing in the society these days Dr Rajiv Trehan, a practising psychiatrist from Panchkula stated that eve teasing is a sort of sexual aggression or a badly modified form of flirting. It is a sadistic type of behaviour. For some females the trauma of eve teasing is almost equivalent to a mini rape which leads to depression and suicide.
