Four-day pharma meet begins at BHU

Varanasi, December 20 The four-day Indian Pharmaceutical Congress began at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi on Thursday. More than 6,000 delegates, including pharmaceutical experts, researchers, teachers as well as captains of the global pharma industry, will debate on various issues.

The major issues include nanotechnology-based targeted drug delivery for cancer, the development of natural products and developing modern drugs that have the least side effects.

Maharashtra minister H V Patil and John La Mattina, president (R&D) of Pfizer Inc (USA), inaugurated the congress. Patil said his mission is to convince pharma majors to invest more in the western states. “We are ready to go in for a pharmaceutical SEZ in anyhwere in the state they want it to come in,” he added.
