Mumbai A Spanish national with German parentage was today allegedly raped and robbed of money and valuables by an intruder who entered her house through a window in her building in suburban Bandra in the wee hours.

The victim, a 27-year-old musician, was staying as a tenant on leave-and-licence basis in a flat on the third floor of the 'Peridot' building located on Perry Cross Road in Bandra West, a senior police official said.

Her room mate, an Indian, had gone to Kerala. The victim was alone in the house when the incident occurred between 3.30 am and 4.30 am, the officer said.

Earlier in the day, police said the victim was a German but later clarified that she was a Spanish national while her parents were German.

The intruder barged into the flat through the window and robbed money including Euros and Indian currency and a camera. When the victim woke up, the accused brandished a knife asking her to keep mum, the officer said.

The victim panicked but managed to run outside and banged at the door of her neighbouring flat. But she received no response as no one was there. Meanwhile, the intruder dragged her into the house and allegedly raped her at knife point.

The shocked woman rushed to the bathroom and locked herself. She also raised an alarm and hearing her screams, the neighbours called the police. By the time the police reached, the culprit had escaped.

Police found the main door of the victim's flat was locked and had to break it open. The victim came out of the bathroom after she was assured that police had arrived.

Police registered an FIR based on the basis of her complaint alleging rape, housebreak and robbery. They also took her to hospital for medical examination and reports are awaited.

Police have formed eight teams and rounded up suspects based on the information given by the victim.

Investigations showed the culprit had entered three different houses in the same locality to commit robbery.

In the first incident, he ran away with valuables worth Rs 6,000 while in the second one, he aborted his attempt to rob. Finally, he entered the victim's house and made away with foreign and Indian currency before allegedly raping her.
