"We respect Anna Hazare, he is our guru and father. Yesterday's developments came as a complete surprise. It was shocking, unbelievable, unfortunate and sad," Kejriwal told reporters here after a meeting with some of the supporters to chalk out the next course of action.
Hazare yesterday announced the split with Kejriwal-led group, which is going ahead with its plan to form a party, saying they should not use his name or photo for the outfit they are planning to launch.
"Anna's photograph and name are printed in our hearts. We will continue to take his blessings and touch his feet. Anna's five principles will become foundation of our party," Kejriwal said.
Responding to Hazare's remarks that he does not go by a survey conducted through social networking sites, he claimed that it was the veteran activist who asked them to conduct a survey on whether to form a party or not.
"Anna had asked us to do the survey. Using SMS and Internet was his idea," he said.
Claiming that there is a sense of urgency to change the system, he said the country was on "sale and everything is being sold out. We have challenges as well as opportunities. In our view both Congress and BJP are the same."
Meanwhile, Kejriwal supporters took potshots at Hazare on social networking sites like Twitter, posts which were retweeted by India Against Corruption.
One tweet read, "Anna made people aware about corruption, but doesn't say, what to do with that awareness, Going political is only logical step" while another said, "need to change the script now! Let People write the script and not few who are disconnected from people." Another tweet blamed BJP for the split saying, "cheap politics played by BJP to kill the movement and destroy the effort to claen d political system."
In reference to Hazare's stand that he does not go by surveys on Internet, one tweet which was retweeted by IAC read, "only 5,000 people voted on Facebook but five lakh plus missed calls. How can u say it is a Facebook survey?"
Another tweet said, "yes Anna Hazare not campaigning is a setback but that doesn't change the fact that people want a credible political option" while other advised Hazare, "unless Anna comes up with a workable strategy for non political movement, I am with a political option if it exists."
A post aimed at Hazare tweeted a quote "You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. -(Quote for Annaji)".

Arvind is right to move into politics. I myself strongly recommended to him in February this year when I met him. I do believe, however, that his method and strategy needs improvement. Arvind needs to ensure that he is supporting greater liberty in India. To that extent Indians are invited to gather at the Freedom Team of India where discussions and strategies for reform are being developed.
I am also Arvind but not Kejriwal. I don't think I want to support a party which has anti-nationals like Prashanth Bhushan.
Now we know why Anna Hajare has achieved very little. Anti corruption is not about him or any one person. It is a movement against corruption and people of India are demanding stop to it. Annaji started a good work, but Nobody should have inflated sense of importance. We hope the movement would not fizzle out because of one man's short comings!
Mr. Kejriwal, you are an IIT Student and I can't believe that you are shocked. You must have anticipated this. You are young and intolerant, while Mr. Anna is old and more guarded. Both are right because there is a generation gap. Neither can understand each other. You are looking to change the society for which you need power while Anna is looking to change the mindset which is a slow and painstaking task. The only word of caution is you don't have to destroy everything and start from scratch but we need to educate the poor in a prolific manner because India is a land of intelligent people who only need to be reached to open their minds. Destruction of the economy is not a solution. There is haste but let let us not waste.
Anna has written letter from Prime minister on lokpal bill, he should keep it with him in a frame, if Anna still believes political class can build such bill , he still dreaming , Arvind pls go ahead with party
Kiran Bedi supports BJP. Santosh Hegde supports Congress. Arvind Kejriwal supports Anna Hazare%u2019s Dream %u201CJAN LOKPAL BILL%u201D. Both Congress & BJP are against Anna Hazare%u2019s version of Jan Lokpal Bill.
Congress won and team Anna MAC defeats. Congess made collapse of Movment Against Corruption scientifically in inception stage - DIVIDE & RULE
He abruptly put hold on the Ansan, which he claimed would be AAmaran earlier. Had he sat on the anshan for a day or two (am not forgetting his health complications!) the entire country would have come on the street and would have put the govt to pass the Jan Lok Pal Bill instantly on the second Aamaran Anshan. But he lef the venue once people were about to gather. Let it be, but it was his idea to give an alternative to the indian people to counter the corrupt politicial parties the nation witness today and he himself is backing from his own words. Dear Mr Kejriwal and team, either with Anna or without Anna, we need a political party who want to contest the election to eradicate corruption from our country would support you and if you stand unit with your team, then you will get enough majority to rule the nation for decades to come, since the people are so fed up with the political parties the country have today. GOOD LUCK!!!
