"The problem of corruption plagues many countries within South Asia and elsewhere also. You saw many many scandals of corruption and allegations on the Prime Minister within India also very recently and very, very big ones," she said here.
She was responding to a question at an event at the Asia Society yesterday on the "tremendous corruption" in Pakistan, which has led to Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry ordering the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf for allegedly receiving bribes in power projects.
Ashraf's predecessor Yousuf Raza Gilani was ousted from power by the Supreme Court after he was convicted of contempt for not obeying its orders to reopen graft cases in Switzerland against President Asif Ali Zardari.

Mrs Khars comment puts her in very poor light. But thats where she belongs. She has shown her true standard by this comparison. Her comment is unbecoming of a foreign minister.
Just a small suggestion. Your report appears with this:PTI : New York, Fri May 16 1997, 14:08 hr..Would u please correct it?
You are presenting a Country and talking like a street neta, who says usne bhi to aise kiya hai phir hume kyun bol rahe ho. You can not defend yourself by taking other people's name. Though the fact is true, PM manmohan is not really doing anything except being silent.
Just don't defend this incapable prime minister because some paki is blaming. Out law says, person who sees and doesn't report a crime is also a criminal... In case of MMS. He is leading most corrupt cabinet of independence India and not uttering a single word makes him punishable and shows his own vested interest. Don't defend MMS, under his tenor ... Indian GDP has gone down drastically. Under his tenor.. India is selling all of its asset whether it's NTPC, Retail ,Insurance... He is an US agent and working for them and not for India... Shame on Indians like us.. who are unable to stop him..
Ms. Khar has announced that her country (it is very difficult to extrapolate the meaning of the word 'country,' when it is addressed by its states-person and they completely confuse the audience in regards to coming to a conclusion about confirming the exact stake-holders of Pakistan) is offering India, a legal help in prosecuting India' Most Wanted as a part of CBM. All the scandals and their respective honorary participants and Recipients would be duly prosecuted by the Pakistani Supreme Court. Those who would be found guilty would be forced to serve their sentence on the soil of Pakistan as per its own Human Right Policies which are meticulously implemented in the region of Balochistan and Federally Administered tribal Areas (FATA). Indian public seem to be very delighted by the initiation of a genuinely friendly gesture of its neighbour and have welcomed the decision. The Bus occupied by all the most wanted Indians is going to cross Wagah Border amidst the usual ceremony.
Madam Rabbani, please mind your own business. Whatever is happening in India will be handled by India. Pakistan is a failed Islamic state, run be elitist Punjabi clan . Most of your leaders have come through Military coups ranging from Yahya Khan, Zia ul huq, Musharraf etc. Thus Army and the Judiciary decides your fate and not the people of Pakistan. India has it's own set of problems . But don't pretend to cover up your President's image .(After all he is the % Man , % standing for commission per deal and also the father of your lover Bilawal). Our PM is a honest person unlike your leader. We are the 2nd fastest growing country . So, dont ever think of equating Pakistan with India.
CORRECTION: Zardari is NOT Punjabi. He is ethnic Baloch from Sindh. He may Or may not be corrupt but he IS democratically elected. Military and Judiciary would rather have him go away but he is likely to win again because of the people. Kinda proves ya wrong?
excellent and fitting reply, but i would only add that nor pakistan, nor ms rabanni have any credibility in the western world, contrary to india whose PM is respected the world over.
Is she really the Foreign Minister of Pakistan? Even if she reads newspapers she'll understand that MMS was himself never even accused of corruption - though his government has their fair share. I think it is a below the belt attempt to get back at the PM for his hard talk re Pakistans butchering of Indian soldiers. Looks like Pakistanis start believing their own lies!
