New Delhi Admitting his role in the Lokpal agitation for the first time on Monday, RSS ideologue K N Govindacharya claimed that he is the “common thread that binds” Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal.

“In a pearl necklace, only the pearls are seen, not the thread. That is why I am loathe to make public appearances with them. Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal can still work in unison,” said Govindacharya.

Speaking to The Indian Express on the sidelines of a function organised by the Ganga Mahasabha, he said: “I am active in academic, agitational and political dimensions, so I don’t want to come to the forefront of these movements.”

Govindacharya’s Rash-triya Swabhiman Andolan is believed to have played a crucial role in bringing together Hazare, yoga guru Ramdev, and Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. “I am with all anti-corruption movements that seek to rewrite the rules of the political game,” he said.

Keep up the good work by k chandrasekharan on 06 Nov 2012

It is necessary that people who are committed to the progress of the nation as a whole (not only the privileged few)join hands, raise awareness and implement the changes required in a concerted manner. The paths of different sections may differ but the goal is the same. In that respect the principled services rendered by Mr. Govindacharya is appreciated. The vacuum left by the routing of the present political class must be replaced by persons with the right commitment and abilities - an aggregation of such people - which appears to be Mr Govindacharya's aim -will give the electorate a more people friendly alternative.

Govindacharya by Karan Rao on 06 Nov 2012

I am inclined to believe him as Mr Govindacharya was one of the first BJP leaders to leave the party on moral grounds. It would be good for the country if he were to combine forces with Kejriwal.
