File: India walks out in protest, Pak wins Asian Kabaddi C'ship

Lahore Pakistan clinched the Asian Kabaddi Championship title after arch-rivals India walked out of the field in protest against the referee's decision to penalize their coach.

The Pakistani team, cheered on by a full house at the Punjab stadium, was leading by 40 points against 31 when the Indian team refused to carry on the contest.

The Indians protested when their coach, Goormel Singh was shown a green card by the referee for constantly disturbing the final by entering into the ground frequently to protest decisions.

Goormel twice interrupted the play when he walked onto the field to protest a line decision by the match official. The third time the Pakistani team also protested over his constantly disturbing the final match.

After some heated arguments, the Indians finally decided to not continue play after which the crown was awarded to the hosts.

The Asian Kabaddi Championship drew big crowds throughout its five days of competition in which other countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal also took part.

Sportsman spirit by sardar on 06 Nov 2012

Life is full of failures and success. When we play a game too, we may either win or lose. "Sportsman spirit" is the spirit of accepting one's success with humility. India is our neighbouring country and we respect them. Not by few individuals/players, one can guage the spirit and character of whole nations. i m sure they their Kabaddi team will show a much better Sportsman spirit next time.

Have a big heart by Sanjeev on 06 Nov 2012

Dear Kabbadi team. You always win in Kabbadi. I feel you should have kept a bigheart and accept the defeat graciously. The home advantage is always for the host team. We too enjoy when the matches are played in India. So let us congratulate Pak team for their win.

Indians whining by jay kay on 06 Nov 2012

LO - This is all we Indians are good for - whining. We were about to lose the match anyways, so we did the TWO things we are good at - complaining and wasting time! Good to see that the officials (who were international and NOT from Pak only) punished us! Dekho, Bhai aisa goonda-ism will not fly like it does in Punjab and in other parts of India! Go home and sulk and cry like the losers that you are!!!

boycott the india-pak cricket series by ashok pai on 06 Nov 2012

indians should actively boycott the cricket series. we are living in denial, pakistan has in no way learned any lesson, and they will carry out another mumbai styled attack. why are we giving them any leeway. use cricket to show them their place - as an international pariah

Indo-Pak relations are a joke by ASHWINI KUMAR on 06 Nov 2012

And our Home Minister is all for Pak cricket series. Can't we have one minister rooted in the ground reality. Pakis always manage to come here and earn - cricket, films, music, big boss etc. Let's boycott them. Who are we kidding by saying we are brothers & all? The fact is Pakis are after money only. They are there with the begging bowl in their hands - dollars from USA, atom bomb from China, funds for 'Islamic Bomb' from petro-rich gulf countries. And they'll use 'Islamic brotherhood'. Have you ever heard of 'Hindu-brotherhood', 'Buddhist-brotherhood'? And the medieval Islamic fundamentalism is so strong that the modern notions of nationalism and liberty sound alien to muslims.
