RPN Singh, who has been shifted from Petroleum to Home in Cabinet reshuffle, welcomed Moily, who was among the first ones to report to their new offices this morning.
Reddy had been accused of being indecisive and almost halting oil and gas exploration.
Reddy’s transfer to Science and Technology Ministry is seen as a demotion and reports have appeared that he was transferred for his run-in with Reliance Industries owned by Mukesh Ambani.
Reddy refused to comment on his exit, but supporters said his options are limited.
Reddy took over as the Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister last year, replacing Murli Deora.
He took on Reliance on multiple fronts over its DG gas fields in the Krishna Godavari (KG) basin. Once India’s second-biggest producer of natural gas, the DG fields have been under-performing.
The Reliance-led consortium has said the problems are related to geological complexities, but Reddy had asked arbitrators to look at the matter.

For a long time, i was expecting such a move.....Reddy was very different breed of politician who took on Reliance.head on....how such a thing can happen in india.....Kudos PM .....day not far when u will be replaced by FICCI or Amabani .
why Science & Technology portfolio is inferior to oil?? if you are efficient you can contribute in any ministry.thank GOD that you are not sacked or sent as CM to A.P.
yes it was a very bad reshuffle, relince suppors congress fincially, so to get more support from them the govt has to bow to there whims nd fncies, even at cost of ation, reddy scuttled there ugly plans so he is thrown out, every one knows moily is pure congress men while reddy is impure congress men he comes from janata prty, also sibal ws thrown own because he destroyed many faulty institutes which were set up by politicians to make money, he wanted RTE etc. AICTE became very strict and this wa problem to the money making institutes
