Mumbai Christian associations have sought immediate removal of "objectionable" scenes from director Priyadarshan's 'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal' and demanded special screening of the film before its release tomorrow.

"We have registered our protest against the movie. We demand a special screening of the movie urgently and deletion of objectionable scenes as we feel that a priest is shown in a bad light in the movie," said Association of Concerned Catholics (AOCC) Secretary Judith Monteiro.

'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal' is a comedy starring Nana Patekar, Shreyas Talpade and Paresh Rawal.

"There has to be some limit the way the community is portrayed on screen as it gives a wrong message to others. We demand the resignation of Censor Board Chief Leela Samson and transfer of Censor Board CEO Pankaja Thakur," Monteiro claimed.

In a protest held last evening, around 100 people took out a march starting from St Peter's Church in suburban Bandra to Indian Motion Picture Producers (IMPPA) and Film Makers Combine (FMC) office a few kilometres away.

The protest was called by the Association of Concerned Catholics (AOCC), Catholic Secular Forum (CSF), Maharashtra Christian Youth Forum (MCYF), Catholic Residents Organisation for Social Services (CROSS) and Catholics for Preservation of Faith (CPF).

Shailendra Singh of Percept Picture, the producer of the movie, said that it is a "clean" comedy.

"I truly respect the sentiments of all the communities including Catholics.... I am a god-fearing person. But we have shown the film to the Censor Board and they have approved it without asking us to cut any scenes or giving 'A' certificate," Singh told PTI.

"It is a clean film. If they have any grievances they should take it to the right forum i.e the censor board," he said.

The community members will be meeting the Indian Motion Picture Producers (IMPPA) officials to push for the cuts.

"We have a meeting with IMPPA today. We also demand a permanent representative from our community on the Censor Board in Mumbai be taken into consideration soon," Monteiro said.

Only a stunt to get someone onboard to sensor by Indian on 27 Sep 2012

This is unnecessary created issue, what will they say to Americans where they prepare porn movies showing priest doing all the things... and that is done in a country where maximum christians exist, they take it sportingly then whats the big deal about Indian movies, atleast its not porn its a comedy. What wrong with you guys... its just a movie for entertainment and not a movie that gives message to the nation. its pure entertainment... just laugh and let others laugh and enjoy the time......

There is on the Google UK in a Janmejayan blog a Christian Priest, denigrating Hinduism and Hindu Gods. He hopes to reap a harvest of 1.2 billion Indians. i.e. dreams to convert all Hindus. Should the Hindus be concerned ?
