Rahul Bajaj, who is a former Rajya Sabha member blamed the political climate as one of the deterrents to faster reforms. “We decided many years ago, decades ago we will not do business where we have to deal with the government. We don’t manufacture, we don’t buy things for the government,” he said.
The law minister was however quick to defend the government: “If we were doing everything which is wrong in terms of policy, how is it that Bajaj Auto is one of the most successful organisations in the last years recording the highest levels of profits?”
Ministers of this Govt. have Foot in Mouth Disease due to sheer arrogance. Did Rahul Bajaj not answered the question raised by the Minister when he said we don't do business with the Government - this is why they are making profit. Bajaj does not have to part away a major chunk of its profit with the corrupt politicians. See the fate of Kingfisher Airlines which hobnobbed with Politiicans - free sortie for MPs and rest is known to us. Many of the small investors don't invest in companies which is controlled or have substantial relationship with the Govt. or its representatives - be it DLF or PSUs (GAIL, NTPC - why are their shares not soaring despite of all positives it is because they are controlled by Politicians).
Mr Rahul Bajaj had once said, "the government has no business to be in business". Seems, he does not agree to the checks and balances which the law has imposed for doing business, even in spite of all this, we find an ongoing multitude of scams which are being unearthed every day. The Government is in the process of streamlining the Tax Reforms, besides, so many times the Prime Minister has bent over backwards to accommodate the business climate and economy, or indulge FIIs, FDIs, etc., he would put a contortionist to shame, but it seems you and those of your ilk are not satisfied, and will never be. What do you want, Mr Bajaj, a free for all, all the way??
Congress has been a propagator of crony capitalism so that its ministers could avail their cuts in the profits. Rahul Bajaj, a vetern in all respects known for his integrity and straightforwardness has made a simple and self explanatory statement. For his thinking and doings, he is respected by Industry and even by aam aadmi. Govt. needs to explain why despite all reforms as claimed by Mr. Abbas Ali here, there is so much of corruption and huge scams with Govt. patronage.
Ashwini just forgot that Bajaj scooters were liked by the common (or mango)men of India in 1960s, 70s and 80s. Now it is Bajaj bikes, which have replaced scooters along with changing times. Poor guys like Ashwani do not want to change with times to transform as incorruptible leaders! That is the bane of Indian (read Congress) politicians.
