"I will stick to my position, come what may... the (TMC) ministers will tender their resignations," she told reporters, a day after she announced withdrawal of support and pull out of ministers, if the government does not go back on its decisions.
Rejecting Finance Minister P Chidambaram's statement in Delhi this morning, she told reporters that nobody from Delhi contacted her before or after the Centre took the decisions to hike diesel price, cap supply of subsidised cylinders and allow FDI in retail.
"Minimum 24 cylinders should be given to a family in a year. How many times you will keep raising the petroleum prices? FDI in retail should be withdrawn," Banerjee said.
She said on September 14, the day the Union Cabinet took the decisions on FDI, she had told Congress President Sonia Gandhi that her party was opposed to these decisions.
Recalling that the statement of former Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee that FDI in retail would not be implemented unless a consensus in reached among political parties, she said this is a commitment that the government adhere to.
The West Bengal Chief Minister said the government should implement any decision on FDI in retail only after a legislation is passed in Parliament in this regard. "FDI, we are not... we will organise protest everyday."
Last night, Banerjee had announced that her party would withdraw support to the UPA and pull out its ministers in protest against the economic decisions. She said she could reconsider her stand if the government slashes the diesel price hike of Rs 5 by Rs 3-4 per litre, withdraws the decision on FDI totally and raise the cap on supply of subsidised LPG cylinders.
'No option to consider'
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Saugata Roy on Wednesday said that there will be no turning back and the decision to resign on Friday has been taken as ministers have to personally submit their resignations and not because there may be some scope for a negotiation.
"All this is media's imagination. The media should understand that a resignation can only be submitted personally, we will submit our resignation to the Prime Minister only," Roy said.
"We have withdrawn support. According to business rules, all resignations have to be written in hand. We will give it to the Prime Minister. We have no option to consider. We have a principled stand and we have stood by the people," Roy added.
Roy further said TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has given three options, which is to increase subsidised LPGs from 9 to12, reduce diesel price by Rs 3 and remove FDI in retail.
"We have opposed FDI for three years. We are against the price hike. We haven't taken these steps for profit," he added.
Mamata Banerjee had on Tuesday declared that the Trinamool Congress would be pulling out of the UPA government, but appeared to keep a window open by saying that the party's six members in the Union Cabinet would only give their resignations at 3 pm on Friday (September 21).
"We are never being heard, so what is the use being in the Centre? I have given enough chance to the UPA II, but the Centre is only taxing the poor people. The price of petrol, diesel, fertilisers are on the rise. Even the government is putting enormous pressure on the common people by hiking the price of LPG," said Mamata Banerjee.
She requested Congress leaders not to distort facts. "They
must communicate reality," she said.
"You (Congress) can't control us... You can control some
channels," added Mamata.
The TMC's decision brings the UPA's effective strength in the 545-seat Lok Sabha from 273 to 254, which is below the halfway mark. At present the government has outside support of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.

Who is Aam Admi. I think Aam Admi are those citizens who want freebies from govenment and not interested in the facts and figures where they come from. And many regional political parties who are not really interested in the country's future but very limited aspirations are using this expression to win elections. I consider them(the bunch like TMC,SP,BSP, DMK & AIDMK) cowboys who take advantage of the situation of coalition weaknesses in the center. I feel sick of this comparison on petrol prices in India with Pakistan or Burma. In this century every middle class families posses a car or couple of two wheelers. These families who are now used to with drawing a very fat salary try to forget the real needy people of the country who struggle on farms and roads to meet their two ends meet who take the biggest risks with no options left in front of them. I think its time for the generation who can afford designer garments and cars should stop asking for freebies and live responsibly.
Our leaders need a bit of learning in basic economics. The subsidy on LPG for a family comes to Rs 3000 p. a. Only 60 p. c of the families have gas. In rural areas in some states nearly 80 p. c live on fire wood the price of which also has been increasing. So when those who have LPG connections are getting a benefit of Rs 3000 why not give a cash subsidy to the rest? As the subsidy comes from the common kitty of the GOI that belongs to all, those who do not have LPG are losers. Curiously though they are more deprived than those having LPG there is no one to speak for them!
Aam adami doesn't need freebies, but if Govt is quick enough to recover the loss in 2G, get back the poached money from CWG, do some good policy to generate revenue from natural resources say coal, etc and bring some accountability in the PMO office, get back the black money locked abroad, have a good check on the black money inside that will help many genuine Income tax payers of this country. that itself will have a check on the inflation price rise etc automatically..The failure of Govt to get the policies right the first time we are paying for the incompetency of the government...
The arrogance is surely there for everybody to see. As pointed out by senior party member of Trinamool yesterday about Mr. Chidambaram. On the price hike the way he talks, the words he uses spanks of his arrogance. The words used and facial expressions clearly tell and show us how much egoistic bend of mind he has got. Even during the last petroleum hike his words and his general facial expressions were not consumate to his status. And there are lot of ministers with these traits in UPA. The goodness, Graciousness of UPA Starts and ends with Mr. Man Mohan Singh. He is very good gentleman worth of being our PM but pushed by his own colleagues forget about the opposition. The prices are definetly pinching everybody from farmers, labourers, middle class and even to ultra rich. The prices of food items have risen 4 to 5 times under UPA Rule. This kind of price rise I for one have definetly never seen. A control is definetly the need of the hour. Earlier the UPA understands ...
Aam admi will to certain extent support UPA2 provided that they take stern action to control the prices of day to articles but they never do.
This time I feel Trinamool has a point to make. Governments at the center all these years have robbed the country from within. Now the common man is getting smarter. So before they get too smart and dig all the scams, Govt wants to introduce FDI and related methods, allow them to rob the country from outside. So whatever is done from inside will be diluted and forgotten. Well done Trinamool.
