“Since she took over, she has not received any money. The cheques for Rs 8,000 have been lying with us. Apart from that, she can also claim other perks but she has not done so. We don’t know what to do with the money. In fact, our officers are planning to take up the matter with officials at the CMO,’’ said an official of the home department.
The cheques are lying with the drawing and disbursing office of the home department which deals with the disbursement of salaries and allowances of the chief minister and other ministers. Mamata also does not use the official car that she is entitled to.

Mamata is a lady of simplicity and honesty. In her entire political life she never runs after money. She is a very remarkable personality as well as leader in Indian Politics.
Modern days politicians are worth crores, why mamta should care about just 8 thousand rupees. Ah......this is money which i used to give salary to my domestic help as Durga Puja gift.These mango people don't have business to do rather come after every politician.

I always consider Didi as a ray of hope of our democracy, excepting a few of her eccentric behaviour. One cannot be 100% perfect. Indira Gandhi was corrupt. She was the main reason for dividing the parties. During her time, regional parties were formed due to her unnecessary interference in local politics. Now all States have Regional parties and they bargain for power and democracy is in peril now with Sonia and company. Even then, we consider Indira Gandhi as the most powerful, popular and courageous Prime Minister. Didi is not power hungry, she is always with poor and common man, she is not corrupt. But some reason or the other she is not popular outside West Bengal. With some good advisers, she is the right person for our Prime Ministership
