New Delhi Terming the Congress-led UPA Government as "anti-dalit", BSP today demanded that a special session of Parliament should be called this month to clear the Bill for reservation in promotions for SC/ST employees.

"We have requested the Centre to call a special session of Parliament this month to get this Bill cleared but before that the Government should ensure that the House will function smoothly," BSP supremo Mayawati told reporters outside Parliament.

"Find a middle path on this coal scam so that there is peaceful atmosphere in the House and we are able to get the Bill cleared. We had talked about this to the Centre also but they have not accepted our request," she said.

The BSP had yesterday sought an extension of the Monsoon session by 10-12 days to get the Bill cleared.

Blaming the Congress for not getting the Bill cleared, the BSP leader said the Government had listed the Bill for discussion in the Rajya Sabha today but it didn't take it up in the House.

"For the last two days, their Minister stood up for discussion on this but today he didn't even stand up. He was so terrified that he could not do so. This shows the anti-Dalit mindset of the Congress-led UPA," Mayawati said.

She said the Congress-led UPA was "mainly responsible" for getting the Bill deferred for another two-three months and this shows that it did not want the Bill to be cleared.

Asked if she would hold an agitation for getting the Bill cleared, the BSP chief said the media has already spread the awareness and need for the Bill to be cleared among the SC/STs across the country and there was no need to do so for her party.

Ms Mayawati is trying to retrieve lost ground by whipping up mass hysteria. What is her agenda? To let dalits be called reserved class , 'becharas'eternally living on doleouts or live with dignity and pride in their self-achievements. Ms mayawati, ur emergence on the scene of power was laudatory, coming from lower rungs and espousing the cause of dalits. U were indeed a great model, but somewhere u got entangled in narcissisict self delusion ( statues and self promoting parks) U held out a dream to dalits but it's a become a nightmare for the rest of ur countrymen. ur diamonds will continue to sparkle but u can't avoid the taint and bloodletting in the wake of promotion quota. And our ruling party, the entrenched elite have turned a blind eye to this nefarious act of partisanship just cos it suits them for the moment. They r endangering the pride n position the country has begun to enjoy in global landscape.Btw, learn sth from the US presidential campaigning speeches?

Mayawati calls Congress-led UPA 'anti-dalit' by G R Jagannadh on 07 Sep 2012

there can be no one more anti-Dalit than her. She unscrupulously spent hundreds of croresw on her Statues and park which she could have used for some schemes to uplift Dalits. These Days dalits or any other caste require economic help to come up in life. there are many dalits from villages as shown on the TV by many TV channels who are good students and looking for economic help to pursue their studies. She just used her Status to come to power and loot the state. She is the worse kind of economic offender. She is able to get away with what she has done because of the influence she has already acquired. With her status and her political clout she will not be touched by any Law enforcement agency. It is sickening how the caste politicians are using their caste to make a personal fortune while they leave the people they claim to represent on the streets where they were.

Ms Mayawati should note she is first a human being then Indian and the term Dalit has been added by some politicians who wants to marginalize Indians for their own power. By demanding this Dalit reservation she is contributing to the future resentment, and isolation of her community. By all means champion the cause of the less fortunate but don't isolate them.

SC/ST RESERVATION by G.R.Ramakrishnan on 07 Sep 2012

Mayavati is also playing politics to keep her vote base but if she is really serious she sjould withdraw her support to UPA which she dare not because of CBI

Ms Mayabati should make her stand clear why she did not support Mr Sangma as President. Her stand in thebquota inpromotion is eye wash. If she isbrepresenting the Dalits then we would have President from ST for the 1st time.
