Mulayam Singh Yadav best suited for PM's post: SP leader

Kanpur Amid Modi-for-PM chant in the BJP and elevation of Rahul Gandhi in the Congress, a senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader on Sunday proposed party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s name for the top post, claiming several regional parties have accepted him as their leader.

The SP is in touch with regional parties which have agreed to form a third front with Yadav as their leader, SP general secretary Ram Asrey Kushwaha said here.

“People have developed a strong dislike for both the BJP and the Congress for their failure to rein in corruption, and now they want a third front to form government,” he said.

“Everybody is looking forward to Yadav, a leader of the farmers, as the prime ministerial candidate,” Kushwaha said.

“The Congress is projecting Rahul (Gandhi) as its PM candidate while the BJP is pushing the name of Modi... I want to ask are they farmers?” he said.

Kushwaha said India would progress only when a farmer becomes the Prime Minister.

“These two (Gandhi and Narendra Modi) cannot be compared with Mulayam Singh.... If there was any farmer leader in this country, it was Chaudhary Charan Singh and after him it is Yadav,” the SP leader said.

“The Samajwadi Party has always supported the Congress to keep communal forces at bay,” he said.

“After the next Lok Sabha elections, it will be an appropriate time for the Congress to repay the debt for the favours we have bestowed on the party,” Kushwaha added.

Mulayam for PM by An Indian on 04 Feb 2013

Why not Ladoo as PM? We need such qualified people for the top post. In Bihar during his rule he made the road as smooth as Hema malini's cheek. The railways made huge profit because of the fools of foreign universities invited him to lecture there, actually he is fit for Nobel prize. Do not know how those people did not notice his abilities.

Mulayam Singh, the right candidate to be the Prime Minister by Karan Walia on 04 Feb 2013

Its the joke of the day, since anybody can see the kind of law and order they have maintained in U.P where his own son is Chief Minister. I hope we could see MODI to be the next prime minister...

MIAN MULAYAM AS P.M.? by N.ASTI on 04 Feb 2013

This is for a leader to lead the country.India is not going for a WWF Boxing where a kusti-specialist needed for akhara. This is for Parliament, not for a wrestling ring. Moreover India is to remain a secular state. Not an Islamic state headed by Mian Mulayam. With greedy, foolish politicians, everything is possible. But the point is what Indian public wants, not foolish politicians, and especially bias parties like SP.

Mulayam by George on 04 Feb 2013

Very well said. SP, a stupid party led by father and son. I just cannot understand how people vote for such parties. If we had intelligent educated people SP would not get deposit in a single seat.

andher nagri chopat raja by piyush Chauhan on 04 Feb 2013

Mulayam singh is best suited for Prime Minister candidate. Also Owaisi brothers and Togriya for communal Harmony Ministry.Robert Vadra for Finance Ministry. Hurriyat conference for national integrity Ministry. Maoists and UP police for UN human right watch. Dara singh(Staines Killer) must be appointed Minister for minority affairs. Last but not least Sonia Gandhi should be officially made new goddess for Indians. GOD save INDIA from its Politicians and wise voters.

Mulayem by Bagota on 04 Feb 2013

Can some one advise Maulana Mulayem to stand in the election of Pakistan?

what a big joke by mitu on 04 Feb 2013

Mulayam singh can be a good sarpanch! How can people such as Lalu, Mulayam, Mamta, Mayawati who does not have any charisma or competancy are dreaming to become a PM of such a complex country? They are all regional leaders especially leaders for uneducated people. They are not capable of dealing internationally. PM of the country needs vision, charisma, leadership and power to lead the government and people. All these people have exploited muslims and backward community and kept them where they were for centuries. They only care for their votes and not in there growth and development. People like Modi, Sushma, Advani, Jaitley can be really good leaders.
