Indian security posts along the border between India and Pakistan. Pak troops ambushed an Indian patrol killing two soldiers, one of whom was decapitated.

New Delhi Outraged by the brutal killing of two of its soldiers by intruding Pakistani troops, India on Wednesday strongly protested to Pakistan, warning that the “unacceptable” incident will have adverse impact on the ties.

As strong reactions by the government and political parties came, Pakistan High Commission Salman Bashir was summoned by Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, who conveyed India's “deepest concern and protest” over yesterday's attack in which two Indian soldiers were killed and their bodies subjected to “barbaric and inhuman mutilation”.

Pakistan was also asked to immediately investigate these actions that are in contravention of all norms of international conduct and ensure that these do not recur.

External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said the Pakistan envoy was “spoken to in very strong terms” and the deepest concern and protest over the incident was conveyed. He called the incident “completely unacceptable”.

India's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia spoke to his Pakistani counterpart Maj Gen Ashfaq Nadeem to complain about the attack. A Pakistani military official said in Islamabad that Gen Nadeem rejected Indian army's contention of cross-Line of Control(LoC) firing by Pakistani troops and killing of any Indian soldier.

Referring to last month's Indo-Pak discussions on conventional CBMs, wherein maintaining the sanctity of the LoC, one of the most important CBMs between the two countries, was emphasised, Khurshid said, “Therefore violation of (ceasefire) that itself is something which is a matter of great concern. And that would obviously, if not immediately, contained will have adverse impact on what we have been trying to do for such a long time.”

Reacting sharply to the incident, Defence Minister A K Antony said, “Pakistan Army's action is highly provocative. The way they treated the dead bodies of Indian soldiers is inhuman....We are closely following the situation.”

In a gruesome attack, Pakistan regular soldiers crossed into Indian territory in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday and ambushed an Indian patrol killing two soldiers, one of whom was decapitated.

Khurshid also stressed the need “to make sure that whatever happened should not be escalated. We cannot and must not allow escalation of this very unwholesome event that has taken place.”

Khurshid also said, “The manner in which the bodies have been treated, of course, the manner is of very very deep concern.

“This has been conveyed as unacceptable. We are doing the best that is possible and I expect there would be some response from the other side. Our intent is being conveyed very clearly. Our anxiety has been conveyed very clearly. Now we would expect an appropriate response from other side. I think, once again we feel this is completely unacceptable.”

Reacting strongly, Congress said, “What Pakistan has done on our borders is unfortunate. Pakistan should not try our patience. We have lost our patience now.”

Alleging that the neighbouring country does not have respect for Line of Control, Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said, “We want good relations with all neighbouring countries including Pakistan. But Pakistan itself has put a question mark.”

Condemning the brutal killing, BJP said it was a “warning” to India and asked the government to place all facts before the international community so that Islamabad can be “named and shamed” before the world at large.

BJP leader Arun Jaitley also asked the government to “clearly define the dos and don'ts” in relations with the neighbouring nation.

“Pakistan must respect rules of engagement and the ceasefire agreement. How can we tolerate mutilation of our braves. Redlines must be drawn,” Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said in his tweets on the social networking site Twitter.

Extremely Disappointing by Pankaj Bajaj on 09 Jan 2013

This is extremely disappointing and now, Government of India needs to tell Pakistan again the red lines and sensitive zones if they want to continue the peace talks. Pakistan is trying to provoke India. They have forgotten that they stand nowhere.

Mutilation of Soldiers in LOC by Moodan on 09 Jan 2013

I think this has been continuing since the days of Prithviraj Chouhan. These barbarians do not understand civility or diplomacy... a tooth for a tooth and a nail for a nail... that is the only language the mlecchaas will understand.. give them treatment like what Genghis Khan or the Crusaders did... they will get shit scared... but with the kind of eunuchs we have in the centre... I doubt...

shame on indian government... by ganesh on 09 Jan 2013

Mr.Antony ...keep playing cricket..... take all members from your goverment to play cricket

Sr Co-ordinator by Vasudevan on 09 Jan 2013

The present case must be linked with our old case of mutilation of body of our Army officer whose father has requested the court for justice. This is a barbarous attitude and no person on uniform should do it. They should respect the uniform. Ofcourse both soldiers are enemies in comparing to their role but should not behead after death. I salute the brave Indian soldier who sacrificed his life for us. I join his grieved family in the sorrowful time. India always takes soft nature in settling the case while Pakistan takes maximum advantage. Example is the last visit of Mr. Rahman Malik. For the safety of Indians, please treat Pak as Terror country and discontinue all dealings with them. DONT TRUST PAK.

Let's wipe Pakistan off the world map by ASHWINI KUMAR on 09 Jan 2013

Hypocracy of Indians by Goundamany on 09 Jan 2013

When Tamil Fishermen are killed by Srilankan Navy , there is no patriotism flowing,Indian Coast Guard and Navy thisnks it is not their duty to Protect the fishermen ( just because they are Tamils) but when two soldiers are killed in Border , patriotism is flowing like river , so Tamils life is cheap while others' are precious . What a hypocracy of Indians

Regional by Das on 09 Jan 2013

Gounda so now you bring regional into this very unfortunate and barbaric act by Pakis. Shame on you. The jawans were protecting the boarder so you and I can sleep peacefully. why dont u migrate to Srilanaka or Afganistan

Are you not an Indian by ASHWINI KUMAR on 09 Jan 2013

The Tamil (or any other)subnationalism puts me off. In fact, people such as you have proved to be the biggest hurdle in nationalistic feelings. Can't we have a pan-Indian outlook?

Please dont't think like that. by Sourabh on 09 Jan 2013

Goundamany Bhai Please dont't think like that. All parts of Bharat are valued same. But it is the Congress gov. which is good for nothing. In the case also this government will only lodge the protest and pak will continue dining the clams and the matter will continue for ever. So you please don%u2019t feel there is biasedness in government behavior. This Congress government will not take any action in either of the case. Till the time we should stay unite and should not get involved in this regional politics. Please be united !!

It is Duty not Hypocracy by tvvprasad on 09 Jan 2013

Mr.Goundamany, those killed nor not kashmiris or rajasthanis or Pubjabis etc. etc. It could perhaps be tamilians. But the outrage is that they have put their life on the line in defence of our motherland. Patriotism is their daily breath, bread and butter. They are not like hypocrates who take up tamil cause one day and making a U-turn on the next day when their comforts are threatened to be taken away.

Why so much of Hue and Cry? by Goundamany on 09 Jan 2013

When Tamil Fishermen are killed by Srilankans , there is no patriotism flowing, but when two soldiers are killed in Border , patriotism is flowing like river , so Tamils life is cheap while others' are precious . What a hypocracy of Indians

Killing of two indian soldiers - India summons Pak. officials by L G Rao on 09 Jan 2013

India summons Pakistani officials regarding killing of two Indian soldiers. Salman Khurshit offered them irani chai and biscuits and requested them to cooperate with India by stopping the firing at the borders. Subsequently Khurshit offered them Hyderabadi chicken biryani and enquired about the train timings of samjhauta express between india pakistan. Khurshit wanted to make sure that the pakistanis are happy with the timings and train services. then khurshit offered thashmiri palao and was enquiring about any opportunities in pakistani to swallow funds allocated for physically challenged men. Mr. Khurshit told the pakistani team that he strictly follows shariah laws and does not want to swallow funds allocated for physically challenged women. it was reported, while leaving the pakistani delegation stole the wrist watch and pen of mr. khurshit as he is in the habit of going to trans whenever he meets pakis.

Pay Back by Twinkle on 09 Jan 2013

think about our soldiers, their family, their dreams... Y don't we reply to the call of blood of our brothers... we need those Pakistani soldiers... we need them, their blood... Nothing less..

Anthony's stupid statements by Subbu on 09 Jan 2013

This stupid minister cannot even talk proper English or Hindi and nobody can understand his verbal vomit. Unfortunately, such incompetent and senseless idiots are given such important ministry which they are totally incapable of handling. The only reply to this is to cross LOC and catch hold of 10 pakis and behead them. - For every one beheading there should be 10 beheading. When will stupid MMS wake up ?

Right by Mittal on 09 Jan 2013

Anthony's lungi has become wet in fear! What can you expect from a spineless half-dead septuagenarian? Remember he had fainted once while visiting the Kashmir frontiers due to low oxygen and a soldier had to carry him down like a child! That speaks volumes about him!!

Show guts by Chandramohan Shinde on 09 Jan 2013

Matter does not end just by calling treatment inhuman. Show guts and attack them. Pakis are not trustworthy.

Reply by Arunkumar Shetty on 09 Jan 2013

Stupid Antony even school going small kids also know it is inhuman but tell us what action you are going to take?
