Former BJP leader Govindacharya

Bhopal Former BJP leader Govindacharya has said senior Congress leaders AK Antony and Digvijay Singh have the “potential” to become Prime Minister, but not Narendra Modi or Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

“In my view, Defence Minister AK Antony and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh have potential to become Prime Minister. I am saying this as both have administrative experience to do good work,” Govindacharya said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending the All India Electricity Labourers Federation conference here last evening.

“I feel both Narendra Modi and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi are not fit to be the Prime Minister of the country,” he said.

Replying to a query on the ongoing debate over who could be the BJP's prime ministerial candidate in the 2014 polls, Govindacharya said, “LK Advani could still be the BJP's prime ministerial nominee.”

Responding to a question on the suitable profile for Modi if the BJP formed the next government, he said: “Modi is fit to be the Home Minister.”

Vote only for Modi not for BJP/NDA. by K Ganesan on 14 Feb 2013

Govindacharya owing to his personal prejudice says Narendra Modi is not fit to be PM.But people of India thinks otherwise.People of India are willing to vote only for Narendra Modi and not for BJP OR NDA.Because people are looking for who can deliver and who is a viable alternative to Corrupt & inefficient UPA.So Modi can decide about his own course.

my pet dog is upset by Arun Madhav on 13 Feb 2013

My pet dog is upset that journos go asking opinion about NaMo's candidacy to such people like Govindacharya, but dont come to him. His argument is, after all he has same 5 senses like Govindacharya and he can also give an answer that is beneficial to Indians.

Comedian by Arun Murthy on 12 Feb 2013

Govindacharya is well-known comedian of "Govindaya Namah" fame. He is so committed to his profession that he does not know when he is speaking off-camera or in-camera. After desertion by his heroine, he has been often found in/out of mental hospitals unable to decide whether he belongs inside or outside an asylum. May he attain inner peace.

Not PM, Modi is fit to be Home Minister: Govindacharya by KRV on 11 Feb 2013

Govindacharya is foolish in telling that Modi is not OK for PM's position but Digvijay Singh is. He should shut up and not put his foot in the mouth. No body cares about his opinion, since he is out of touch with the reality.

Shocking choice by k chandrasekharan on 11 Feb 2013

I had great respect for Govindacharya as a straight man but after his choice of Digvijay Singh as PM, I think my respect was grossly misplaced. If baiting people can be a qualification for the PM's post, his choice is spot on.

Govindacharya by CA Satish Shetty on 11 Feb 2013

modi prime minister candidate by soman nair on 12 Feb 2013

i completely reject mr govindacharya's statement that mr.narendra modi cannot be the primeminister of india for 2014 and i am extremely shocked to know that mr govindacharya is promoting mr. digvijay singh and mr. anthony and even shri lal krishna advani as the prime ministerial candidates. i have immense respect for mr. advani as he the most senior most person in the bjp. however, as per the programme in ABP news at 9 pm on 12-2-2012, it has been shown that india is economically getting slower and the production is very low in our country due to high price rise and no investment in this country. during such circumustances mr. govindacharya said that mr. modi has to still learn lot of things in politics to become primeminister of india, and it will still take more time for him to improve his image as he has to learn lot of things in politics. i totally reject this statement made by mr. govindacharya as the citizen of india.i strongly and very firmly believe that the time has come to take perfect decisions on economic front and only one man can do a replica of growth in the entire nation which has been already done in the prosperous state like gujarat and i.e. mr. narendrabhai damodardas modi.

insult to the hindus by shurkumishra on 11 Feb 2013

i have very very high regards for Shri Govindacharya, but shocked to see that he prefers digvujaya singh as a prime ministerial candidate. antony is acceptable, rather desirable if congress comes to power, but diggy raja? is it not slap hindus of India. how can Givindachary can ignore his statements against Hindus, supporting statements for Islamic terrorists and blaming country; police force to for fake encounters, visiting the terrorist family in Azamgarh addressing Osama Bin Laden as OSHAMAJI. i wish Govindacharyaji explain these points. shurkumishra
