"The young UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav should take a cue from the government of Chhattishgarh which has, since last year, started celebrating February 14 as 'Matri Pitri Pujan Diwas' so as to inspire the youth to revere and serve their parents.
"It is an example which, if followed, will go a long way in protecting young men and women of the state from the evil influence of western culture," Asaram Bapu said at his discourse in the ongoing Maha Kumbh congregation here.
"Foreign TV channels, which promote promiscuity, have robbed them of their strength of character. As if this much of moral degradation of the country's youth was not enough, pernicious symbols of western culture like Valentine's Day are being promoted," he said.
He said that it is the moral duty of the society to guard against evil outside influences and it is the solemn duty of saints and men of God to establish noble traditions which lead to the moral uplift of the common people.
Asaram, who has remained embroiled in numerous controversies over the past one decade, had recently drawn flak from various quarters for saying that the 23-year-old paramedic student, who recently succumbed to her injuries days after being gang-raped inside a bus, could have saved herself by pleading for mercy before the assailants.
Yesterday, he had claimed during his discourse at the Kumbh ground that he had been "quoted out of context" and announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh to anybody who could prove that he had blamed the rape victim for the incident.
Asaram Bapu is holding high the golden torch in this dark climate of materialistic western consumerism. Unfortunately we only get to read the false propoganda designed to defame a great modern day saint, philosopher, healer who's principles may go against the interests of powerful multi-billion dollar companies - and therefore their governments. His relentless service to the poor and all-round philanthropic activities unfortunately go to the wayside. At some point or another all the great saints have been heckled or even crucified. Asaram bapu will be greatly revered when he has passed away.
The so-called 'promiscuity promoting' western culture already has a Father's Day and a Mother's Day - not one but two such days of celebration. If one has to accuse the western culture of anything, then it should be of materialism and consumerism - creating 3 such days of market-friendly activities - gift exchanges, lavish dinners and expenditure

As rightly said,Our Govt. must take Bapu Ji's words seriously to declare this valentines day as "Matri Pitri Pujan Diwas" to save humanity and moral values... We all must respect our parents.

Great Thought and great initiative... We should join hands for the grand success of Matri Pitri Pujan Diwas on 14th Feb, in order to eradicate the western influence from our society. Of course western science is acceptable but not at the cost of our culture.
This initiative is wonderful. Worshipping our parents is like worshipping God. After all,our parents have given us birth and that they have sacrificed a lot for our upbringing. MATRA PITRA POOJAN DIWAS initiative is great. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs,Parsi all can celebrate this event.

I am highly shocked by this wonderful project initiated by Asaram Bapu. Where other nations are spending millions on this change in the upcoming generation,project of Bapu can do the better change in society with no expenditure
Bapuji has taken this mission to restore the glory of the youth of india since past several years. It is not something that is being started 'now'.

Yes, its is the responsibility of the govt. and the society to eradicate this western influence from our society. We can always welcome the science of west, which is good, but not at the cost of our culture. Also the media should be careful in telecasting news without doing any research... they should not just twist the words of saints and put them out of context.
In this current era when parents are either left alone or sent to oldage homes, celebration of love day with parents would imbibe good virtues in youth which would lead to a more progressive nation...
