Now, Bal Thackeray attacks Nitish Kumar, backs Mumbai cops Bihar raid

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray

Mumbai A day after Nitish Kumar defended Bihar DGP's letter to Mumbai police commissioner protesting the manner of arrest of a teenager from the state, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray today said the Chief Minister should have instead congratulated Mumbai police for its action.

"The Bihar CM should have congratulated Mumbai police as their action prevented Abdul Qadir from fomenting more trouble in that state," Thackeray said, in an editorial in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

"Even god cannot save this country if political boundaries are going to come in way of nabbing a terrorist from Bihar," Thackeray said.

Qadir was recently arrested from his native Sitamarhi district in Bihar by a Mumbai police team for vandalising the martyr's memorial during August 11 Azad Maidan violence called to protest alleged atrocities on Muslims in Assam and Myanmar without taking that state's police into confidence.

Bihar police chief and chief secretary of the state had reportedly sent letters to Mumbai police commissioner voicing displeasure over the incident.

Calling Qadir a "traitor", the Sena patriarch said, "There was no need for the Bihar chief secretary to meddle with the business (of Mumbai cops arresting Amar Jawan memorial vandal from Bihar)."

"The memorial vandal Abdul Qadir's arrest was an action against a traitor and the policemen involved in it were Indians," he said, adding Nitish Kumar's image has been needlessly tarnished in the episode.

The Sena supremo's comments have come amid strong criticism of his estranged nephew MNS chief Raj Thackeray's remarks that Biharis in Maharashtra will be branded as "infiltrators" and driven out of the state if Bihar government initiated legal action against Mumbai police personnel involved in arresting the vandal.

While condemning Raj Thackeray's remarks, Nitish Kumar had yesterday defending Bihar DGP's letter, saying as per a circular of the Union Home Ministry the police or investigating agency of any state was duty-bound to inform the local police and seek its cooperation in the arrest of an accused person in a case.

It was not done by Mumbai Police in the arrest of Qadir and several other accused persons from Bihar by police of other states, he said, adding Bihar government and its police were within their rights to protest the manner of such arrest.

Thackarays UVACH! by Amar Prasad on 07 Sep 2012

This is silly. They are not fighting Biharis but fight for their own survival by firing from the shoulders of Biharis. This is an issue, which has been used and overused many a times. Now, Bala Saheb and his not so illustrious progeny should learn to grow up and behave like global citizen as they themselves are reaping the fruits of Global City Mumbai. They can not remain KOOP MANDOOK for the whole life. Anyway they have to wait further for fighting for the cause of Marathi Manoos, because the elections are still two long years away. DUNIYA UMMID PAR KAYAM HAI INHE BHI AKAL AA JAYEGI.

how can thackery call qadir a terrorist he was involved in rioting at azad maidan and rioting and vandalizing properties is in the blood of all shiv sainik that means all sainiks and its leaders are terrorist

Nitish's involvement wasn't required by Amitesh Anand on 04 Sep 2012

This should have been internal stuff solved between two departments - that's it - this is waste of time for everyone involved. The "mudda" shifted from vandalism to Raj Thackrey & Family and Nitish; with certain lime light to Chief of police and Secretary. If you look in non-biased way, we are all Indian and if someone is involved in non-lawful activity that needs to be identified and punished - it has to be done. Again, who knows - maybe our Sitamarhi champ was on his way to safe-heaven - Nepal and then come back again from Arabian Sea; As citizen of India, I would have given Mumbai Police a Benefit of Doubt and praised for their timed action. Nitish has already set an example for excellence on governance and he should not worry about this Bal-Raj; he still have many things at his platter to solve.

plz..... Thakre by Avinash on 03 Sep 2012

Please - Both accepted Leaders Thakre Ji & Nitish Ji, responsible and intelligent leaders. For sometime please do not raise a new issue. Else it will divide Indians. Moreover it will suppress the most concerned national issue directly related with the common men the Corruption and the money deposited abroad. Can You SO KINDLY support us - The people of India...
