Chidamabaram cited the movie portraying the rags to riches story of a boy from Mumbai slum as an example to show that young boys and girls from slums are not lagging behind corporate India.
"Please watch the movie after its release," he said speaking at the launch of the International Financial Corporation-Venture East-Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (an NGO)-sponsored fund to promote grassroots entrepreneurship in India.
The movie has fetched the Golden Globe award for musician A R Rahman and won ten Oscar nominations.
Recalling the success story of girl at a slum in Delhi who had set up a beauty saloon with a government loan, he said "today, most of the residents in that slum are her clients and she earns Rs 5000 a month"
"A slum like Dharavi in Mumbai is humming with business ideas and innovations and we have to reach to such people also," he said and exhorted government and private lending organisations to help such people.
Besides, formal education was "not necessarily" the yardstick to measure success but was "a great boon and help," he said, citing the case of such people.
"Lot of young men and women in slums have the necessary qualities of being innovative and are willing to take risk to carry out a business venture," he said.

Muslim mafia and christian churches, priests are in to film production. Soft pornography and the soft anti Hindu agenda along with poverty and social conditions of India presented in the movie is good for conversion. People will not notice these subtle message from the movie. Most of the mafia that is involved in child lifting and stealing hospital babies are christian adoption centers through out India. The men who organize child begging syndicates are muslims. But very prominently, on the Van which is seen transporting the kids, Sai is written. The christian producer want to project that Hindus are in to child theft and begging syndicates. It is the christian NGOs that are in to child protection racket so that they collect overseas fund. The overseas adoption racket of stolen kids from hospitals are a big business for christian organizations in India. So, a cross on the van would have been appropriate. Showing Lord Rama during the riot is huring the Hindu sentiments.
With such a very high level backing Laluji would be hard put in clearing lakhs of slum dwellers along railway tracks all over the country; thousands of slums have also mushroomed along/near thousands of housing board colonies in metros and towns creating very unhygienic conditions for flats owners, besides tapping very many unlawful connections from water boards, electricity poles, motorised drawals of drinkng water; votebank politics centers have also developed in the process, besides creating very many Laawaris and unlawful elements amongst them. The reason is that the young Jamal wanted to come out of locked out make shift toilet in the slum to see the arrival of Big B. The whole shit scene must have originated in a sick mind of a christian producer of the film. The film is made to denigrade India and Indians. There is not much music to praise Rahman the way it is done by the media, unless the other competing films are much worse.
The movie Slumdog millionaire is very good. One should not miss it. Movie is a tear jerker and is well presented. Acting is superb by one and all. The movie is fast moving and the photography is quite good. In fact I liked the movie very much, but has a anti muslim, anti hindu agenda behind it which should have been avoided in this 21 century where the very religions are disappearing. Slum people are not poor and many are well educated and very rich. For eg. In the Asia’s biggest slum spread over 432 acres called Dharavi in Mumbai, has has a population of 10 lakh. Engineers and even airline pilots stay there. Dharavi manufactures some $700 million worth of items every year and many residents are millionaires. Some of the scenes in the film are taken at the Kurla area, water pipe line. The Britisher who produced this will not dare to show the poor conditions of the London beggers which is much more pathetic due to extreme cold and extreme negect in UK.

PC will bring progress to India! Future of India lies in slums. They are very secular places too. That is why visionary Bamponthis have helped increase Slums in Bongal, and brought brother secular Muxlims from Bonglades and converted brother secular Xtians from Mother Teresa to live in more and more numbers in slums. It is great to see that two secular forces of UPA and LF will pursue similar strategies for India's progress.
What about other cities.If you want to be an MP from Ludhiana(in Punjab, India),the best is , you should be from Eastern India(Bihari)or Bangladeshi.Forget about Bengal or Mumbai.

From where in movie, PC got this idea. The movie is about a boy's journey pursuing his love. Which is really romatic. On other hand, movie dipicts stinky feigned reality about India. Boys were enganged in cheating (in Agra), and big brother joined under world. Particular one society was suffering under police negligence while riots. Roitrs are Hindus killing working innocence Muslim Mother. Raam was attached to roits. Krishna with forced beggars. I know its a fiction of work but why only bad things are on world silver screen about India. As indian we are happy if anything (good or bad) comes into lime light about India. We are so hungry of western attention.
It is nice to see a film, after a long time, that depicts reality and accepts the fact of life in atleast one part of Indian society, so we can then proceed to do whatever possible to convert the challenges into opportunities for progress. Unfortunately Indian society in general has not learnt to accept the realities and take the courage and wisdom to make changes for better where possible. But now it is encouraging to see our younger generation, born in in slums or bungalows, do not accept the ways of the past - poverty, slavery of sorts and exploitation - but are bold enough to break into a new era of demanding their rights to explore new ways of success. This is indeed a welcome sign of new ways of India. Pity is that such good films are to be produced by foreigners.
Movie is an eye opener of the divide in the city of mumbai. The Rich are just evading taxes and siphoning money and transferring it to ME tax havens. This ME tax havens help pakistanis. Goverment cannot do much because most of the Indians are dishonest not paying taxes and still expect more and more. If people are ashamed of the reality, they should leave mumbai and go to gujarat karnataka or UP tamil nadu and so... on. The guys who are ashamed of mumbai must me most shabby inside their own houses and society. Film is just potraying the plight... the reality is what everyone sees, even Ambanis see it, but they still build a multicrore building for 4 people to stay...
The 'morphined' dose of reality depiction may not have been inspired by Graham Greene. But the health need clearly is to morph to eco-friendly Green cities. Slums mostly serve as the receiving point of the rural poor who migrate to cities to find work. We need proper planning perspective to make the great Indian migration from rural areas to urban zone the grand central theme for comprehensive resolution of issues pertaining to this movement.
What businesses did slumdog show ? It focuses on racketeering and professional begging.Yes, I did see the movie and first 30 mins make you sick. I am from Mumbai,. I am familiar to know Juhu slum is not same as Dharavi. We were revulsed to the extent of getting up and leaving the theater. BTW evertime you come from Pune and have to get on to Wetsern Express highway you do go thru Dharavi.
