Chandigarh In a shocking incident, an MD student in the department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, leveling serious allegations against his two guides, left the institute and his PG course midway.

Sources revealed that the student has even filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission alleging that the guides had been harassing him and that he is leaving the institute due to their harassment. A complaint has also been submitted in this regard with the dean of the institute Dr Amod Gupta.

Sources say that Gupta has also reportedly not released the student’s No Objection Certificate by the department.

According to sources in the PGIMER administration, Dr T Maheshwari, an MD student at the pharmacology department put in his papers on October 3 and left the department leveling serious allegations against two of his guides.

Maheshwari had completed two years of his degree and was in the final year. The sources revealed that he was not taking interest in the studies for the past few months.

However, PGI spokesperson Manju Wadwalkar said that the matter is under the perusal of the higher authorities. Also, playing down the incident, she added that many students leave institutes in between and join other institutions.

Sources also say that even the dean had asked the department to give him a No Dues Certificate. However the department refused give on the pretext that the student Dr Maheshwari has some important data of the institute in his possession. Therefore he could not be given a No Dues Certificate till he submits the data back to the department.
