Need Male Tigers by Raj on 11 Mar 2012

What Panna needs now is male tiger from different gene pool (One from Kanha, one from bandhavgarh is not bad idea). So far, only one male tiger has been relocated to Panna. All cubs are fathered by this one male tiger. When these cubs become adult, start mating with each other and create a breeding population, that population will not healthy. This is called inbreeding. Look at the inbreeding in ranthambore population, they are not healthy population. 5 male tigers from different gene pool is more important for panna. And, Corridor of Panna with other neighboring forest such as Bandhavgarh must be restored. That is the only way to maintain healthy viable population of tigers. Otherwise, it will be a success without any substance.
