In Delhi on Sunday

New Delhi Continuing his tirade against his former aides, Anna Hazare, on his maiden visit here following the IAC split 10 days ago, described politics as “filth” and movement as “sacred”.

He refrained from naming Arvind Kejriwal, the principal protagonist of the political option, but said that his decision to dissociate himself from the political party was due to Kejriwal team’s inability to answer five of his questions.

Disbanding the IAC core committee, Hazare had described the political option as a “good way” and asked questions about how the party would choose candidates, fund electoral forays. His blog on Friday indirectly lambasted Kejriwal for having split the team. Contending that a big movement and not politics will give the country its future, Hazare said he had told the pro-party group that the route of politics was “not the right direction”. “If I had to enter elections I would have done it much earlier. I have not even fought panchayat polls. When I talk about alternative, I am not talking about political alternative,” he said.

He is meeting representatives of NGOs and former government officials during his two-day visit. Kiran Bedi and Medha Patkar were absent at Sunday’s deliberations.

Dirty Politics by Varin on 01 Oct 2012

Hats off to Anna Hazare for stirring the conscience of majority of the people in India and abroad over the issue of corruption. Although ruling Congress led UPA has no conscience yet there are some good politicians. Therefore Politics is not "Dirt" or Filthy but majority of the current crop of Politicians certanly fall in the that category. Neverthelesw, if some stringent measures against corruption have to be taken then good Politicians must be in Parliament. The message is loud and clear..

Politics is filth by R.Singh on 01 Oct 2012

Anna is forgetting that politics may be filth, but in democracy you cannot reach your goal of reforms unless law suitable to that is enacted in Parliament. It%u2019s not enough to agitate, but to suggest the alternative. When you are being challenged by your political counterparts that if public is supporting your agitation, why don't you come to parliament and get suitable bill passed, you are left with no but to join the wagon with a view to clean it. In this dirty game, though it is tough to establish yourself as clean face, but it is not impossible and once you get the public diffidence other equations become immaterial. I don't think that I am crossing the limit ,when i say that since Anna has seen the lavish living of politicians and spending in election and has no knowledge, how they have risen to this status he has fear of venturing in unknown field ,which in my opinion ,is unwarranted.

people who condemn politics... by P M Ravindran on 01 Oct 2012

People who condemn politics as the last refuge of the scoundrel are bound to be ruled by scoundrels! Does that need any elaboration? But still, given the Indian situation the need for a new political party is very much open to debate.

By the people, for the people by Hari on 01 Oct 2012

There is no match in the world for the worst culture in our politics. Competition in Corruption, casteism, goondaism ....the list goes on. Even some smaller and poorer countries are far better than our country. Democracy in our country has become a joke in the international circles. All of us have to put up a straight face and are condemned to justify for not doing enough to bring some order in our politics. People are now realising that voting is very important and democracy works only when we work hard to keep its operative clean and healthy by asking hard questions to politicians and administrators everyday of our lives. This transformation is essential with a sense of urgency to stay in the global race.

POLITICS IS WAY TO TRANSFORM INDIA by Mahendra Patel on 01 Oct 2012

Annaji, I do not know who is advising you? but here is advice you can use t, and that is Politics Need not be What CON-MEN, SP, BSP, DMK,RJD. HAS shown, Go with what BJP, Trinamool (TMC) Has shown, they represent essence of Politics- Look carefully and change your MIND, because in Final analysis ethical political party will change landscape of INDIA no doubt about it, by the way if want to go parrellel track on out of politics That will be great, so I advice you to go for both- If you find after 2014 it is not worth to enter into politics you can always go back non-political, but as of not do not jump to conclusion without experimenting with Both track, LOVE INDIA WHO ARE WILLING TO EXPERIMENT BEFORE COMMING TO CONCLUSION.
