It was also noticed that certain state private universities are granting franchise to private parties to run off-campus centres. The errant universities include Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) and Dheradun-based Hemgiri Nabh Vishwavidyalaya (HNV). While UGC has already directed HNV to close down the off-campus centre it had opened in Goa, in other cases the Commission was in the process of taking similar action. "As per the norms, private universities can neither affiliate any institution or college nor set up off-campus centres," the official said.
The findings came a few days after the UGC made similar revelations about deemed universities which have been found offering courses by opening off-campuses, off-shore campuses, new departments and study centres without proper approval.
For starting any off-campus within the state, the state private universities need to get permission from the UGC after five years of their establishment. The UGC has not allowed any state private university to start off-campus centre so far, the official said, adding the students should be very careful while selecting institutions for pursing higher studies.
About 40 state private universities have been established through legislations in different states. A maximum of nine such universities have been set up in Rajasthan followed by seven in Uttar Pradesh, six in Uttarakhand and five in Gujarat. The UGC last week said it came across a number of irregular practices by deemed universities which are offering courses by opening off-campuses, off-shore campuses, new departments and study centres without proper approval. HRD Ministry is critical about the functioning of such institutions and is set to start a thorough review of the functioning of the deemed universities.

story appeared regarding private university under ugc scanner is to be expanded and public in general and students in particular should be aware that private university name appears in various state universities equivallency list and strictly following rules,regulations and norms of the regulating bodies and adhere to schedule to there respective act.

But instead of several letters and emails with full detail to UGC, that HOW these 11 Music Centers are affiliated by a PRIVATE and UNRECOGNIZED Examination Body of India "Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith, Lucknow, are running without any Govt. permission, for the last 30 to 40 years, and Distributing in thousands every year INVALUABLE CERTIFICATES in Sri Lanka.Repeateadly it is written to the all concerned Sri Lankan Govt. High Officials and UGC too. How the above UGC's Comment is justified? It is to surprise WHY this UGC is not setting an INQUIRY for the given facts from the Registrar of this VIDYAPITH for the given facts and for due action? The Music centers, affiliated by this Vidyapith are equally RESPONSIBLE for this ILLEGAL ACTIVITY prevailing in the country, every head of the centers knows the status of the Vidyapith, but their selfishness of earning the undue money, keeps them silent.

Is bmc, Kalimpong recognised college in india? i herad from a renown person that bmc is just a DE learning center of SMU,DE. All the courses are conducted as per the DE guideline. Yet BMC can issued a regular certificate to the students. it is not fair for the rest of the student who are struggling hard to score marks. theirs is just a MCQ and that too are set directly from the printed materials provided to the student. there is no standard measure for the DE student. Therefore, we would be happy if the concerned authorities can verify and make a difference between the regulay students and the DE students. since the education systems in our country(india) is well recognised by the other countries, we should not encourage the foreign students to take up DE course. In long run DE course to the foreign student will spoil the education system in our country.Example, SMU, DE have more than 800 pus DE learning centers offering distance course to the foreign students as well.
