Pune police on Tuesday said they have got "vital" information on Saturday's blast from the CCTV footages even as two persons with suspected links with Indian Mujahideen were detained in connection with the attack.

Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said they have got the forensic report and it has established that RDX and ammonium nitrate were used in the attack at the German Bakery, a popular eatery here.

"We have the CCTV footages. We have got some vital information from it," Singh told reporters.

"We received the forensic report last night. It has been established that the presence of RDX, ammonium nitrate and petroleum hydrocarbon oil in it," the Commissioner said.

The explosives were hidden inside a bag which was lying under a table in the cafe. It exploded when a waiter tried to open it.

Singh said 24-year-old Abhishek Saxena from Lucknow succumbed to his injuries last night, taking the toll to 10.

Police sources the two suspects were picked up from Janwadi area in Pune and Kudalwadi in the neighbouring industrial township of Pimpri.

One of the suspects who was nabbed from Kudalwadi area is believed to have been associated with Indian Mujahideen leader Riyaz Bhatkal during his stay here, they said.

However, Singh said he can "neither confirm nor deny" on being asked whether any arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

The Centre has not ruled out foreign involvement including a Headley link while some Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives at large came under the scanner of security agencies.

LeT operative and Pakistani-origin American David Coleman Headley, lodged in a Chicago jail in the US for his alleged involvement in the 26/11 attacks, had surveyed the area near the blast site during his trips to Pune last year.

The police commissioner said he had no information as yet on the device used to trigger the blast.

"I don't know. We have not yet established that," Singh said when asked whether the blast was triggered using a remote-controlled device.

Sources privy to the investigations said information was being gathered about Mohsin Chaudhury, a Pune resident with links to IM and who is missing, while trying to ascertain the role of Pakistan-based terror group Lashker-e-Taiba(LeT) which has close links with the Indian outfit.

With IM's hand in the bomb blast being increasingly suspected, Maharashtra's Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) was planning to question a few jailed IM men to get some leads.

Among those likely to be questioned were Saddiq Sheikh, believed to be one of the founders of IM, and Mansoor Peerbhoy. The IM is stated to be an amalgam of former SIMI cadres and LeT operatives.

Another IM militant Shahzad arrested in connection with 2008 serial blasts in Delhi will also be questioned over the presence of the terror group's sleeper cells in Maharashtra, especially in Pune.

why is NAXAL terrorism condoned ? Any reason ? by Rajesh Dubey on 16 Feb 2010

why are so many people expressing their opinion about PUNE blast but none for the killing of 25 jawans in a daring attack yesterday by NAXALS in west bengal ? why doesnot media and IE give any importance to those killed by NAXALS ..is there any special affinity or abhorence towards a perceived brand of terrorism ? That sounds illogical and extremely biased. Thanks

Naxals by Sreekanth on 16 Feb 2010

People have to stop trying to deferentiate between naxals maoist and terrorist. I can't find any difference between these outfits. It is time to take a firm stand whether political or militry

Pune Terror/Domestic Blast by Mr.Chirayath on 16 Feb 2010

It is belongs to internal security, external security as well as it caused the foreigners flux into the country or other words the perpetrators came to attack Mumbai from Pak all along the west coast of Maharashtra for example, so who is responsible? not the local guard who is earning a meagre wages which not enough to meet their monthly expenses, then who is responsible may be the Indian Navy so Indian Defence. But Indian Navy never vigilant enough or never have such power/order to tackle the insidious Terrorists. So in short first the coast guard must be changed that Navy should be watched the west coast of Big India with reqd equipments with attractive rewards. Exactly as the same way the local police are not supposed to protect the country internally from the BLAST of external terrorists. It is easy to think about the menace and invest maximum budget for internal and external security, form commando operators and not cats for politicians. Ban on IM, SIMI watch their concentratioin.

Why is shivsena hand is not being probed in the pune bakery blast? they should be the most suspected ones who would do such and act to divert media attention.

Humbug statement by Keshav Madhav on 17 Feb 2010

You ought to be out of your mind to even nurse such thoughts. Absolute ignorant and irresponsible statement. Or do you wish yourself to divert everyone's attention for some covert reasons? The investigation will presently reveal it all, just be a little patient.

the Pune attack and David Coleman Headly by Juan carlos d. Autopista on 16 Feb 2010

The Pakistani origin man David Coleman Headley changed his from DAOOD GILANI to David Coleman Headly in 2006. He took up this Christian sounding name to hide his real ID. The IE should highlight these facts in every report

IE is 'secular' to do that by Ravi on 16 Feb 2010

How can IE do that? It is a very 'SECULAR' newspaper. Only people like Thakary and Mutalik and Modis to be targetted everytime. Give protection to 'My name is Khan' with entire police force but not to poor people of Pune... Anyhow its 'secular'

Unpatriotic politicians by Indi on 16 Feb 2010

How come media is talking about these things? Surprising, they should bave been talking about what SRK is doing, how his film is faring in the market, after all the whole govt machinery was put into swift action at the drop of the hat from srk. Huh, this is ridiculous, is't it? This is a country obsessed with personal satisfaction and no one even bothers to think of this country. That is why even a worm like country call pakistan is attacking India day in and day out and upa is just talking and doing nothing. Shame on these politicians. Neither PM nor his madam has come out with a statement so far. Does these things really bother them? Come on man, this country is going no where with vested interests congress in power.

Indias Fool Mockery by Rajesh on 16 Feb 2010

I totally disagree with whatever the line of action or stands whether its govt or police or CBI, All of them are fooling the whole nation. This looks to be polictical gimmick hatched by the opposition, so many blast happens most of the innocents were put behind the bars, still no clues and not a single case is resolved...This clearly shows that police,CBI, CID are not able to find who is the culprit or they know the culprit but they are picking the wrong persons to keep their uniform...This is a real fact and essence of this SAGA.

pune attack by Gagan on 16 Feb 2010

why in the world total security cover was provided to MNIK movie when a similar instance resulted in delay in screeing another movie- DESH DROHI in the past. everybody here knows how to dance and play flute to garner statemensship (double standards). the only people responsible for this is the AAM JANTA which includes me. Had it been some other movie with a B class actor it would have been defenitely postponed by the Govt. Then noone came forward and talked abt exercise democracy. the Govt was busy taking care of a SRK movie and the terrorsts had an upper hand.

Two detained in Pune, cops say probe on track by Kotwal on 16 Feb 2010

More and more of these islamic terrorists bombings are organized by Western country citizens USA and Canada in particular holding dual nationality and are mainly from Pakistan,Iran,Afghanistan,Arab countries and other Islamic countries. Canada a hotbed of Islamic terrorism has a large migrant population from Pakistan,Iran and arab countries. Indian security forces should be vigilant in the case of Western country citizens specially if the origin is Islamic and from Pakistan,Iran,Afghanistan and Arab countries.

Pune Probe by s s iyer on 16 Feb 2010

We Indians are selfish and are interested only in applauding the smooth release of SRK's new film even though he is a Pakistan lover. We do not learn from history and will continue to suffer.Unless we unite and fight against the islamic jehadis we will have more blasts in our soil.

TRAP THE MENTORS by Prof. Ramesh Sinha, Freelancer, ND on 16 Feb 2010

First taking Indian Mujahidin (IM) outfits under suspicion after Pune blast and then nabbing two of its alleged activists, the police looks inching forward to right line of investigations. But what about IM mentor LeT which is reported to be running training centers off Kashmir to erect new brigades to aim India again and again. The truth that the LeT has been exercising Hawala and individual sources to finance the IM and to some extent to SIMI (as charged by media time without number), can't be denied. Here Pakistan and Let have common interest and if the proposed INDO-PAK talks meterialises, the Indian government must emphasise the issue at the top of the agenda with a suggest to stop cross border conspiracy and infiltrations. Flowers for PC and Manmohan by Ashok Patel on 16 Feb 2010

Mr Gilani Pakistan PM, have invited foreign secretary for peace talk. and this is a flowers for PC Home Minister and Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister. Who have no sorrow for 26/11 or any terrorist act. Mr. Gilani Pakistan PM and ISI or LT, Knows that Indian Politics is so worst that they will not united to combat ISI, or laskar. They knows the limitation of the rulling party for the power based politics. and power they achieve by voters. and they do not want to loose that 20% secure vote. People and police officer died on 26/11, Still Home minister ready for talk with PAK. It is not shameful but a sign of political cowardness. " Jar yaad karo Indiraji ko, aur Sardar Patel ko."

What is the use ? by Shrinivas on 16 Feb 2010

Well said,Mr. Swanand, and DR. LAW.. Send a good number of jawans to Israel, trained as commandos, and learn how the Israel govt.deals with terrorists and negogtiates in what manner ? Our govt. should not have to please any parties or political group when it comes to fight or punish the terrorists. Rope around the neck in the public to the killers.. Strike to the terrorist basis inside the boardering country, if the attack is supported by them.. talk afterwards.. The extremists do not understand the peace talks, their intention is just to expand their basis, convert the people, and slowly takeover the land. Remember Moguls, religion came from there.. which is still dividing and killing our PEACELIVING people. Wake up before it is too late..

How can it be possible? by Vinay on 16 Feb 2010

Are you dreaming? Can this Govt. even think of this thing.Their vote bank will be gone if they even dream.Remember for them most imp. thing is Vote.

But the show goes on. In India it has become a way of life.

Pune attack by Raj on 16 Feb 2010

Is SRK going to condemn the LeT-trained terrorists or does he chose to exercise his "freedom of speech" only when there is injustice against Muslims?

Head Quarter by Syed on 15 Feb 2010

Why this leakage of news. May be the investigators want the perpetrators to scape. But who could be the culprit, isn't Pune head quater of Purohit and Prayga Thakur? We should ask Goa police to investigate this case and linkages to recently arrested hindu terrorist in goa.

Well Said!!! by Indian on 16 Feb 2010

Well said Mr. Syed. I will like to hear similar things from SRK and all the supporters of him. Probably some day we will learn, how can we give up the hope.

effective measures by roop krishen peshen on 15 Feb 2010

Other day I heared HM telling us that we cannot carry on the bag search in a place where public is frequenting.I have gone to various offices and mals in delhi and gurgaon and at all these places bags are searched.I feel that our Hm is not alive to what is happening. If there was a security threat in these areas the security should have been of two tier type and distsant . I feel we should have a separate ministry for dealing with internal threat headed by a professional independent person with more robust powers for a period of three years. It is important that such organisation be independent of state machinery yet has same or superior pwers to that of state law and order machinery. Let may not be as dangerous threat to us as are naxals or political support to such organisation Who can forget support to Afzal Guru ,Batla house, soft tears for tribal/naxals ,modi ,shiv sena as a matter of fact all of them. They all are trying to help but by which channel time alone can show
