For those of you who have never been to college, let me educate you about bumps. Its a kind of celebration for birthdays,or when someone gets good grades , or gets a job etc.The whole point is to make it memorable for them, albeit a painful one.No one remembers their birthday if all what their friends do is cut a cake and shake hands.That is what my grandpa's friends do.You'll just forget it the next day.How many of you remember any of your birthdays?But ask any NITian and he will tell of the four best birthdays in his life.He will tell you how his buddies come from different blocks across the college at 11:00.He will tell you of how his day scholar friends stayed back in college just so they could celebrate his birthday at 12:00.He will tell you of the kicks and bumps and buckets of water and in some rare cases eggs.And Finally he will tell you of the cake and the hugs and music. For those of you who have never been given bumps,i pity your sorry existence and all your wasted birthdays

its is a birthday celebration . it is first telecasted tv9 news channel a bogus news channel . I am a passed out of nit warangal i can clearly say thay this is birthday party and such kind of things happen in all colleges and companies . Please news papers like indian express also are publishing these things without any formal investigation . black mark on the ethics of the journalism

Dear readers, Ragging is a condemnable act. No matter where or who is doing has to be dealt severly. Yes, the act is inhuman, but is that ragging? Firstly, the college authorities shd constitute an enquiry into the incident and then clear the air whether actually it is a case of ragging? Let me clear you all about what actually is happening here, "It is a bday celebrations among a particular class of students(mostly class mates),there is no question of juniors being present there. The bday bumps are part of bday celebrations in most of the engineering colleges(IITs, NITS)." So i see this as manipulative video by one of the TV channels in AP(suffering low TRPS,i guess?). Count on me, even we do have bday bumps as a part of bday celebrations in our office(Its a start-up, Most Employees are from IITs and top 3 NITS),Old habits die hard. Yes, I've one among them. I'm pretty sure the video is doctored as during my stay i never heard of stripping a person, No matter what!!

A simple birthday celebrations has been shown as an act of ragging. Students do not get any sadistic pleasure out of ragging and no senior kicks his junior in joyful manner. Birthday bumps are a part of the birthday celebrations in the hostel and it has got nothing to do with ragging. TV9, the channel, which started this whole thing just needs to sensationalize something and gain TRPs. It should be more responsible when reporting sensitive matters like ragging and should not malign institutes and students.

I studied in NIT, Warangal and I can state it with my conviction and authenticity that enclosed clip is not a ragging but just b'day celebration. Though I am not implying that ragging does not happen @NITW but it was such a closely kept secret that it is difficult to get a footage. Catch hold of anti ragging committee members - they are the worst guys. Much like politicians - custodians to curb ragging but indulging the self in ragging.

I am an alumni of NITW. All I can say is this article is just an exaggerated account of what happens. There can be an some cases here and there but what has been reported over-representation. The worst part is birthday bumps have been intentionally confused with ragging. It's really sad to see such journalism pitching in and defaming college of such repute.

Ask any engineering student who stayed in Hostel (even day scholars), they will know that its just a birthday celebration. Such nasty exposure and stripping of junior students on the name of ragging should not be noticed as an event of probe by the NIT. It is a criminal act of anti-socials in the college of any facultate which would be dealth with the court of law and be banned in all the colleges at all times.

This is just an attempt by the educated community to understand the facts before you speak. And I understand that none of you had the balls in your 12th class to crack big exams like AIEEE/IIT-JEE and get into a prestigious institutes like IITs/NITs and hence I believe the jealousy and the quest for false stardom is making you broadcast false news. NIT Warangal was,is and will be known for what it was known. Dear TV9, NITW is a class apart. You don't even qualify to utter the name. You could safely mind your work and telecast other issues of your standard like "New hero's new girl friend gets a new puppy".. P.S : You were going gaga over the birthday bumps. The video telecasted is not of any ragging incident.....It was of birthday bumps. The media has manipulated the news. The further video of cutting the cake and giving gifts were removed from the video.

Criminal proceedings should be initiated against the individuals - Ragging others, plus the college administration. The punishment should be examplry one.
