Sachin Tendulkar doesn't need any advice on his future: BCCI

BCCI has come out in support of Sachin Tendulkar saying one needs to look at his 'colossal record' before making any comment.

New Delhi Sachin Tendulkar's streak of low scores might have raised a question mark over his future but senior BCCI official and IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla today came out in support of the senior batsman saying one needs to look at his "colossal record" before making any comment.

"He will hang up his boots when he thinks it's time for him to go. He does not need any advise on this. Before making a comment on his performance you have to see his colossal record and his past performance," Shukla told reporters outside the Parliament adding that the veteran cricketer will come back strongly in the forthcoming matches.

"He will do well in forthcoming matches," Shukla said.

Tendulkar has been battling poor form for sometime and his last 10 innings have yielded just 153 runs at an average of 15.3, the lowest by an Indian top-order batsman in the corresponding period.

The 39-year-old's last three figure score in Tests came in January last year against South Africa.

Asked about India's loss to England in the second Test at Mumbai today, Shukla said: "It is sad. After the victory in Ahmedabad the batting line-up could not perform the way it should have. It was a turning wicket and English spinners performed better."

Shukla, though, said the board will look into the matter and would take necessary corrective measures.

"We will discuss the shortcomings and so will the team management to see how the performance can be improved," he said.

On the selection of the team for the next two Tests against England, Shukla said it remains the prerogative of the Selection Committee and nobody should interfere in their domain.

"Selectors are also former players and they will take a call on this. Whom to select and whom not to, it is their domain," he added.

Keep some rotation policy by Praveen Kumar Reddy Chinta on 29 Nov 2012

Its disgusting to see the moves of Indian Selectors. How can they didn't even think as a normal man watching cricket.Even a small little boy who watch cricket will say that Indian batsmen doesn't know batting even we can play better than them.So why can't they didn't think of that why they will always back of so called Indian cricket greats Dhoni Sachin Yuvraj Shewag and Gambhir . For god sake keep some rotation policy's in mathces try to keep manoj tiwari , rahane in the team. As you gave a chance to pujara he is fully utilizing his skills like that why u can't keep rahane or tiwary in the side or atleast gave them a match to prove their skills so that If so called Indian cricket legends will retire we will have a better alternatives.Give some rest for seniors , atleast a single test match and try to keep the young guns in the side. Try something different which will help Indian cricket.

Tendulkar should respect the feelings of new commers by mahendra on 27 Nov 2012

Tendulkar will definitely come back his original form and he need not required any advice for his future planning which he has to take its own. After world cup 2012, when asked by media about his retirement planning, he told that he has his own feelings and they have not teached him how to play cricket. Every new cricketer has feelings to play at international level for their nation and Sachin should not think only of his own feelings but should respect the other players feelings as he has completed career of almost two players (history tells career of master players is 16-17 years only). Sunil Gavasker is criticized for his comments on Tendular, but sachin has never followed his example of 16 years of career in cricket as Sunil Gavasker has also came very early age (about 18 years) in cricket by retired after 34 age after world cup 87. Brian lara was chance to complete 12000 runs of his career by just adding 45 runs, but still he retired from cricket after 17 years of his career a

Time to think... by Ankit on 27 Nov 2012

"I will play cricket till i enjoy the cricketing moments" is legendary players always saying. But, it is time to think that "I am enjoying the cricketing moments more or some other young guns are enjoying the cricketing moments more than me". In my opinion, It's time of transformation of talent rather then searching the joy in your performance.

sachin should retire on his will by javneet on 26 Nov 2012

I know that sachin has underperformed in past few months but still i do think that he has a lot to offer for the INDIAN TEAM , he should retire from odis after pakistan series (which I still think he should have done after the world cup) and should continue playing test cricket for a while ...until then we should enjoy this man playing rather than pushing him out of the team.

Sachin by Gop Kumar Hemnani on 26 Nov 2012

Yes its high time that Sachin should be advised to pave the way for new comers .There are a lot of new faces waiting for their turn why we are sticking to Sachin, Yuvi, and ZAK.Give a chance to Rahane,Vijayan and new bleed to prove they are also capable.Sachin is GREAT absolutely no doubt about it he is GOD of modern cricket but some day one has to face the realty and its high time Sachin should take a call and open an academy for youngsters.

sachin the master by sunil nair on 26 Nov 2012

Hey Karthik...please mind your words when u speak abt someone who has been an icon for 23 long years...tendulkar is one of the rare icons like rahul dravid in cricket who has played the game fair and with dignity. Even ricky ponting is struggling and australia is still sticking around with him inspite of Australia having a stringent selection policy. Its simple...these guys have created an era. u should understand when India was a nation who used to be dependant on Gvaskar for odd draws as he was the only one who was really capable of doing that by grinding down the opposition...it was Tendulkar who gave India the belief to take opposition apart with his aggresive brand of banding which inspireda whole generation of cricketers who have become stars now in their own rights. Its simple he was and is the best....its difficult to think Indian cricket beyond him much like French football without Zidane......

Will he??? by GC MISHRA on 26 Nov 2012

Tendulkar is no doubt a great player but the performance shall also matter. On current form and performance in recent past he is a passe and shall consider retirement instead of competing with WG Grace???

BCCI is a bunch of highly corrupt and dishonest set of people by Kartik Subramaniam on 26 Nov 2012

Why BCCI need to remain tightlipped on Tendulkar's retirement? When the great players like Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly etc were all given and shown the door for just one poor series then why the rules be different for Tendulkar. This bugger is just playing for money, and has lots of lust and greed. His brother Ajit Tendulkar used to fix matches on his behalf. I have lost all respect fro Tendulkar, even if dance naked for the country from hereon

sachin by umesh on 26 Nov 2012

I fail to understand why BCCI is shielding Sachin's debacles while batting. Rajiv Shukla needs some more knowledge about cricket that if Sachin's past record is collosal, his past failures are also collosal. Sachin is not above the game. The problem is BCCI or selectors have no courage to ask Sachin to hang his boots.

Sachin Poor Show - TOO OLD SURE ! by Rita Jaisingh on 26 Nov 2012

Time Sachin honorably retired and gave way to aspiring new talents in game; he has done his best, got fame and name; now MP also ! Should help the game and team by announcing exit from the game he loves for its benefit ! Will he prove he is a patriot, let us see; close friends should advise him well to act quick !!!

Tendulkar can hang up his boots when he decides to go!! by NRI ( Oz ) on 26 Nov 2012

I haven't heard MORE RUBBISH than this from the BCCI!! No wonder India is GETTING A PASTING from England & other cricketing nations! In most countries, when a senior player DOES NOT PERFORM CONSISTENTLY,he is DUMPED & younger & more promising players are fielded! However, Tendulkar is HELD IN AWE by the BCCI,& thay are SCARED TO DUMP HIM! Unless the BCCI changes its policy,India will CONTINUE TO LOSE international cricket matches!!
