Why no comments on the banning of Rushdie? by Akshaya Kuamr on 27 Jan 2012

Can we have a day of pleasant newspaper reading without the learned Mr.Katju's viriolic comments on people from all walks of life except those from his fraternity and of course the politicians. The only one of his comments that one can agree immediately with is the one on P. Sainath.Mr. Katju, do we celebrate new writers or keep harping about only writers of the bygone age? And one would like to ask Mr.Katju as to why wouldn't he get into the controversy regarding 'banning Mr. Rushdie was correct or not'?Is he scared, if so of what? He comes out with scathing commnents on Dev Anand, the poets who participated in the JLF, why not say whether he approves or disapproves the government's action? If he doesn't then surely he has an agenda!

Salman Rushdie is a 'sub-standard' writer: Katju by Veer Khar on 26 Jan 2012

Agree with Mr Katju. Reading Rushidie's novel 'Shalimar the Clown' I too feel that he is a sub standard writer. I see him questioning "why the Kasmiri Pandits are in Camps' after they were hounded out of Kashmir by fundamentalists. He gives an impression as if they are deliberately staying in camps.... I also agree with Mr Katju that anything foreign looks great to us Indians - with hardly any self respect. In fact the rule by clans all over the country demostrates that general public have accepted substandard life as a norm.. so why not waste time in discussing substandard writers. Thanks Veer Khar New Zealand

Katju has absolutely hit the nail on the head! Have to totally agree.

salman rushdie by Nazir on 25 Jan 2012

I m fully agreed with Justice Katju's statement

Rushdie should write like Chetan Bhagat by tripspc on 25 Jan 2012

The learned Justice Katju seems to be a fan of Chetan Bhagat whose writings come close to Voltaire and Paine that he admires. Come on Salman bhai. Stop wielding pen while satanic thoughts cross your head!!

give justice to Mr.Rushdi by sudhir on 25 Jan 2012

Please do not judge Mr.Rushdie like that because it will make you sub=standard judge.thanks

regarding "my views on article" by sunil on 25 Jan 2012

katjus article by venkat on 25 Jan 2012

why a fasad over salman rushdie.indias constituion will not become weak if he doesntt come to indiait would have been better if jaipur lit fest focussed on reinventing our prem chand, harivansh rai bachan etc rather than be focussed on rushdie.

my views on article by Ankur Jain on 25 Jan 2012

Der mr. Katju... i think Rushdie had already won Booker prize for his midnights children & was world famous before he wrote The Satanic Verses. Secondly being former Justice & bureaucrat you got to the post at PTI, not coz of literary merits of ur socio-legal books n articles, so please leave analysis of writers work to critics. thirdly indigenous writings.. first go & read the calendar of jaipur Lit Fest on its website then talk.
