New Delhi 16-year-old alleges rape by friend’s brother, two others; 34-year-old says raped by live-in partner, his friends.

A schoolgirl was among two gangraped and blackmailed by men who made video clips of the assault and circulated them among friends, police said on Thursday. These were separate incidents and an arrest was made in one case after the victim approached police.

Both victims — one a 16-year-old and the other aged 34 — claimed they were offered sedative-laced soft drinks which made them unconscious.

In the first case, a student of a government school alleged that her friend’s brother and his friends raped her on August 14. Police were told that the men also made a MMS clip and circulated it among friends. The clip ultimately reached her parents and she told them about the rape when they questioned her.

The girl is a resident of Trilokpuri in East Delhi.

According to police, she was returning home from school when her friend’s brother, identified as Vivek, offered her a ride in his car.

“Vivek told her that his sister wanted to meet her at their house. But he took her to his friend’s house in Trilokpuri. There, the two men offered her a soft drink, which was laced with sedatives, and raped her,” a senior police officer said.

She told police that though she was feeling dizzy, she remembered being taken to a room later where a woman and another man were already present.

“The woman then went out of the room and locked the door from outside. The three men raped her and Vivek shot the MMS clip on his phone,” the officer said.

Police said the men threatened to make the MMS public if she reported the matter. She kept quiet but they circulated the clip.

“The MMS reached her parents and when they questioned her, she broke down. They alerted police on Thursday. A case has been registered at the Mayur Vihar police station,” the officer said.

In the second case, a 34-year-old woman accused her live-in partner and his four friends of raping, threatening and robbing her of Rs 5 lakh.

The woman had been living with a man called Azhar for four years in a DDA flat in Taimur Nagar near New Friend’s Colony in South Delhi, police said.

The woman told police that on September 17, Azhar came home with four friends. She was offered a soft drink laced with sedatives.

According to police, after she fell unconscious, the men shifted her to the bedroom. When she woke up, she found the men taking her photographs.

She told police that she was threatened and the men said they would upload her photographs on the Internet if she told anyone about the incident.

“Azhar has been arrested and a case registered against him,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Ajay Chaudhary told Newsline.
